HP Pavilion 25xi

Hi,

Saw this monitor at Hp Funan today, really nice.

Positives:

• Glossy but seems less so than the Dell S2440L, image is lovely
• Good build quality
• Unique 25" (seems better than 27" with 1080p)
• HDMI + DVI

Negatives:

• Quite pricey at $499 (can get 27" 1080p for that price)
• Only 1-year warranty and not onsite

Tempted to get this even though it's expensive but that 1-year warranty is terrible. All their other monitors have 3-year so doesn't exactly inspire confidence on reliability. Spending that much on a monitor I expect it to last longer than 1 year!

Anyway, does anybody know if this is available anywhere else or in SLS?

Get DELL 27” S2740L at $499 instead.

To be honest, I find 27" a bit too big for general use especially at 1080p. If I go 27" then I would like to get 1440p to justify the extra cost but really have no need for the extra real estate.

This 25" Hp just struck me as a nice size but way too expensive. Hp 27 xi is going for $280 in US (S$347)! Can't believe how much more expensive monitors are here. The 25 xi should be around S$400 max here!

Anyway, will probably go for a 23/24" monitor. Just struggling to decide between glossy or matte. The Dell S2340L is good value but only has 1 HDMI digital input.

May wonder around SLS tomorrow. Funan doesn't seem to have much choice, just Samsung, Dell, and Philips.

Ended up getting the HP Pavilion 25xi from SLS.

Confirmed that it does actually have 3 year warranty which is great. Also includes some standalone speakers (usb powered with 3.5mm line input) which are better than I thought would be.

Love this monitor! For 1080p I think 25" is ok. 22-23" is ideal just for productivity use otherwise 1440p is better. But for watching movies etc, 25" is nicer even at 1080p.

The glossy surface is perfect on this. It is reflective but a lot less than the Dell S2440L and a bit less than the S2340L. HP seem to have used a slightly different glass panel.

No dead pixels that I can see and colour/brightness is pretty uniform. The IPS panel is great. Lovely rich punchy colours and good contrast.

Includes VGA, HDMI, and DVI cable.

Build quality is really good. Much better than some of the cheaper monitors that I have seen and no glossy black plastic in sight! The monitor is very thin and sleek, and the design stylish but in a subtle non-blingy way. Bezel inc. the frame only measures 9mm on top and sides. The controls are on the front lower frame and are touch sensitive. Comes with software to control the settings within Windows if you prefer.

Although it is expensive (still think it is too expensive), you get what you pay for. This is a great monitor. Need to spend some time calibrating it (software only).
