Based on early reviews by Engadget they mention that the screen is horrible and the SoC they use is pretty outdated. A N7 would be a much better buy IMO with the IPS screen.

I guess that HP will never learned from their previous mistake.
No use paying their CEO with so much 6 digits salary as they cannot think properly :s13:

Selling obsolete low end technology with cheaper price doesn't mean it is cheap. They have to build something descent with reasonable cheap price and support.

Why they don't try to learn from samsung or apple ? their product are not cheap but again people still buy, because for those buyers it is worth the money to buy.

I use their elitepad and must say that hardware is beautiful but win 8 sucks. I agree with the poster that hp should have thought about some differentiation. Just a beats audio wont make it... at least they should have made it quad core and full hd screen.

I bought it in Jurong Point, also $199.

There is a screen protector pasted on it and it is matt one but I found there is a dead pixel. Think need to exchange for new 1.

my sis just got this slate 7 from her polytechnic (purchase with purchase when she bought her laptop).

she managed to go to the main setup page and then the tablet died and refused to power on.

until now, the tablet is dead. it's like a week old, tops? horrible. I have no idea what to do to hard-reset or make it just power on. even plugging in the charger does not elicit any response from the tablet.

haiz.

Then the LOL moment when HP tries to make it sound like the Slate 7 is launched exclusively in SG @ the recent IT Show.

I am embarrassed for HP. After their failure with web os and long after all the competitors have come up with strings of tablets, this is all they can come up with! Technology that's used and surpassed by even MIC-tablets 1-2 years ago! What makes HP think that they can charge $199 for an out-dated tablet that's an Android first-time effort when even established companies like Asus are asking less for much more capable offerings (eg US$149 for Memopad HD7)

Anyone thinking of buying this tablet shd read the following reviews first:

No GPS is bad enough but no gyroscope? Come on! Big FAIL!
