Go to their website and download the ipk file to your pc. Then use webos quick install to install it in your TP

Thanks bro. It works. So easy to install

Except the silly tp does not accept files >4Gb so quite pointless for the mkvs. Will test smaller size mkv, avi and rmvb.

Thanks for the tip !

As a TP user, I'm not surprise. After using it, I can appreciate why it is actually worth more than the firesale price. I only have one, so no commercial interest in saying this.

Webos is actually quite attractive to use in its own right. Multi-tasking is fast, capable and intuitive for user. So while you suffer in the limited apps compared to android and ios, people seldom need more than like 20-30 apps that they regularly use anyway.

The browser is capable of rendering most webpages just like on PC, so alot of the customized IOS apps meant to circumvent the incapable IOS browser are not really required in the TP since user can access the service directly on html.

Wow they increased the price by $100 and there are still takers?

Unbelievable considering that there are upcoming cheaper and more worthwhile tablets

The transacted prices in ebay are more than US$250 excluding shipping. Those who intend to buy for resale won't make as much as the first wave.

Any recommendation to install GPS application into this TP? I am traveling to Australia and would be driving there, need some GPS to make sure I would not be lost.

Of course, using the GPS without any assistance of 3G or wifi

I am looking for Garmin app, possible? :s13:

Looking at the list of tablets that had their price cut recently in the US:

1. Blackberry Playbook (1 Ghz Dual Core, 7-inch screen, 16GB memory, Wifi only) - US$299
2. HTC Flyer (1.5 Ghz Single Core, 7-inch screen, 16GB memory, Wifi only) - US$299
3. HP TouchPad (1.2 Ghz Dual Core, 9.7 inch screen, 32GB memory, Wifi only) - US$249

The HP TouchPad at US$249 is still value for money.

What is uncertain is the future of webos. Who will be the next owner? What will happen after that? Will it be heavily customised by the new owner such that it is no longer the webos that we used to love?

Only time will tell.

I share the same sentiments with rest1ess. The HP TouchPad and its webos is still capable of meeting the demands of the modern day tablet user.

it's out of stock again .. faint .. damn fast ..

zhix

That's the difficulty if one is not staying in the US.

At 6:30am in Singapore, it is 6:30pm in the US. The probability of someone staying in US getting a HP TouchPad online is higher than here where most of us are still sleeping. Unless you are working on the graveyard shift.

I don't think the Touchpad has built-in GPS hardware. It can only use wifi to get an approximate location.

That is really pathetic comparing to Apple and Android apps. I think they made a correct decision to can the TP because for tablets to be successful, they need good apps to support them.

Someone posted previously that the TP is now selling at about $300? At this price, I wouldn't have bought it. Would rather go for iPad or Tab. $100 for the TP is more like it.
