Do you actually mean TouchPad is one of the lousiest tablet in the market? Cheap doesn't mean it's not good. WebOS itself is still pretty much an awesome OS you know. I find it more 'human'. While it might not have 100 thousands of apps but it works as how it should.

Now that HP still bother to support the OS and give updates, I think for the price I paid, really got nothing to say liao lah.

To those who missed the firesale, keen to buy 2nd or 3rd hand Touchpads, and wanna install Android into it: there are cheap 10" Chinese Android tablets such as this. Might be a better option. :)

My TouchPad is snappier and more responsive after the 3.0.4 update although I had previously overclocked it to 1.5Ghz and installed Preware patches.

Hmm, if the TouchPad was installed with this webOS version when it was first launched, perhaps it would sell better. And perhaps HP would not kill the product.

Perhaps, perhaps...

Enhancements made in webOS 3.0.4

HP webOS 3.0.4 makes TouchPad snappier, includes a new camera app, makes it easier to find great TouchPad apps in the App Catalog, and a number of other improvements.

Core applications

Camera

- New front-facing photo and video camera app. Browser
- Larger tap targets for easier tapping.
- Increased support for Flash & Flash plug-ins, including recognizing accelerometer events.

App Catalog

- Added ability to view only TouchPad, Phone, or All applications in App Catalog.
- Launching and viewing App Catalog contents are quicker.
- Improvements of the user interface include app icon appearance, responsive tap targets, and formatting of the app description.

Music

- You can add songs to a playlist from Album view.
- OGG Vorbis and FLAC media files are supported.

Messaging

- Setting status (online/offline) per account is now supported. For example, you can be offline on your work account and online on your personal account.
- You can set your status to invisible on Yahoo! Messenger.

Phone

- You can now pair a phone that is not a webOS phone to the TouchPad, so you can answer calls on the TouchPad.

NOTE: Most devices cannot send or receive SMS (text messages) from the TouchPad. The SMS Mirroring functionality needed to send and receive SMS from the TouchPad requires the Bluetooth Message Access Profile (MAP) to be supported by the phone.

Email

- Performance of the Microsoft Exchange Global Address List (GAL) when composing a new email or using Just Type has been improved.
- Added support for the Microsoft Exchange Autodiscover service to assist in setting up Microsoft Exchange accounts without having to enter server configuration information.

Additional bug fixes in Maps, Contacts, Calendar, and App Catalog.

webOS System

Keyboard

- Bluetooth keyboard pairing with generic keyboards has been simplified and now includes an automatically generated pairing code and instructions on how to pair.
- System load balancing: webOS maintains a higher level of overall usability when the system is downloading a large amount of data (for example, during a restore) or is installing apps.

This is what I gathered online.

Important Note (Warning)
: If you already Installed Android on HP TouchPad Tablet, WebOS 3.0.4 Software Update will Overwrite the BVoot Partition and also Removes Moboot. Means, you will be not able to Boot Android on HP TouchPad, unless Reinstall Moboot First. CyanogenMod 7.1 Android 2.3.7 Gingerbread is still on HP TouchPad Tablet, but you cannot access it without Moboot Software.

Easy to reload Moboot by following some of the instructions Android installation guide. Here’s the short version:

* Connect your TouchPad to a PC and tap the icon to enter USB Drive mode.
* Create a directory on the TouchPad called “cminstall” (without quotes).
* Copy the moboot_0.3.3.zip file to the cminstall directory.
* Exit USB drive mode.
* Restart your TouchPad from the Device Info app in the Settings panel.
* Hold the Volume Up button as your device reboots.
* Once you see a big USB icon on the TouchPad, you’re ready for the next step.
* Open a terminal and navigate to the folder on your computer where you’ve already installed Palm Novacom (and make sure the ACMEInstaller file is in the same directory).
* Type the following (without quotes) and hit enter: “novacom boot mem:// < ACMEInstaller”

Once Done, Reboot your HP Tablet, so that you can see Lines of Code Running accross the TouchPad Screen, and finally the MoBoot Menu will Load, giving Option of Booting WebOS or Android.

There are some conflicting information on the possibility of another round of firesale. Some rumours were circulating that the last and final round of firesale will takes place before 31 October 2011, end of HP's current financial year whereas other rumours were suggesting that HP has decided that they will not be producing any more TouchPads to meet demands.

Guess your next best bet will be SITEX 2011. The TouchPad may still be offered as a PWP option.

i thought it was HP who made the comment. nevertheless, it's a good tablet, but people ALWAYS use ipad as a benchmark, which is ****** up.
