Don't quite understand TS's fascination with this account or the service expected of the "advance status". Went to open an advance account just now for the sake of the promotional interest rates; wasn't even the RM who was with me for the process but an assistant admin staff. Entire experience no diff from opening a normal savings account with other banks.

Oh, no free kopi, teh or biscuits :s13::s13::s13:

I'm not fascinated, nor expecting that kind of RM that drives down in a BMW, dressed in a nice 3 piece suit to present me a nice folder and a pen to sign any documents.

I just want to find out in depth what is this HSBC Advance all about.

Weird.

I went to open my HSBC Advance account. Was served by a HSBC Advance Manager. His name tag on the uniform has that label and he gave me his name card.

He explained that technically if no changes, since he opened my HSBC Advance account for me, he will be my Advance Manager. Anything I can call / text / email him about my account questions.

And yes, no kopi, no teh, no biscuits. :s13:

Anyone knows about this clause:
To be eligible for Advance, Salary crediting or reoccurring deposit of at least S$3,500 per month

What does reoccurring deposit actually mean? Deposit 3.5K every month, then you can withdraw it straightaway, and you will keep the Advance status?

Advance is not much different from normal banking. Don't bother.

Don't even feel that the queue is quicker as it took 30 mins with many premier customer cutting you at collyar quay. While at neighbourhood branch, they are empty usually so also no difference.

$30k in AUM is a very low bar, many people can hit it. So no status for you to feel at all.

I used to be an advance customer, but I just do not find any difference locking up the amount with an ordinary account. The interest is nothing special or similar to POSB, do not expect any benefits as the rm are are there to sell insurance.
The only benefit you get while waiting to open your account is a coffee and the next time while closing your account.

Actually you dont need to be Advanced customer to have the coffee..

You can just go and press the machine, noone is going to stop you..

it takes almost 3-4 weeks for me to receive my Advance Credit card. while waiting for CC, you can proceed to apply advance acct without the card. they will link the card automatically once approved.

Does this account come with cheque book?
Doesn’t seem to have

Yes, upon request. Ask your banker during acct opening and they will send to your addr.
