HSR question and need help

Hi , am planning a trip to taipei in nov

and upon arriving to TPE , will want to take HSR to taichung

My question as below

1. from TPE to taoyuan HSR is cheaper and faster than going taipei main station to go taichung ?

2. i might want to book HSR ticket in advance , but dont really know how to read the HSR timetable

coz i want to know the frequency of the train , worry book le , get delayed by custom or what and miss the train

There is another alternative and that is to take the bus. I always take the bus from airport to taichung train station. It takes 1.5hrs if you arrive taoyuan in the early morning. Can have some rest or sleep on the comfy bus. Just buy the ticket from the bus station in the airport basement. no need to buy in advance.

First, alow extra time for flight delays if any, custom clearance. I normally buffer 1 hour for flight delays, 1 hour for customs, half hour from plane to customs.

From airport, they have shuttle bus to go to Taoyuan HSR. Taoyuan is nearer to Taichung, Taipei is further from Taichung.
Go to Taoyuan airport website to check the shuttle bus frequency and journey time.
I always arrive early at the HSR station to relax and drink tea

The one circle in red is the one depart from taipei hsr to taichung. very few stop in between.) travel time around 1 hour 2 mins.

If u wan also can go straight away from airport.

Here my literary for your reference.

0600 Reach Taoyuan airport

0700-0730 Take the U-Bus(705) from airport to Taoyuan HSR

0810-0914 Take HSR

Depends which one u want , i opt for faster one with lesser stop in between.

from taoyuan to taichung, the easiest and most convenient way will be taking the long distance bus, 国光 at the air port. they have frequent regular bus to taichung.
