Anyone experience battery drain cause by Google Play Service?

the damn thing always suck hours of CPU, ****ing fed up to wake up in the morning and see battery left only ~60%. :vijayadmin:

had tried install GServiceFix, uninstall any apps that might be accessing play service or GPS or sync, disable sync, etc. last night disable location and that's the only time play service didn't top the battery usage.

any suggestion?

Google Play Services don't make it to the list of power consuming service/apps on mine. Just for your info, my location services is on "High Accuracy Mode"

From what I can see, Google Play Services has access to all the phone's service.

You should investigate the power usage of Google Play Services and see which aspect (CPU Total, Keep Awake, GPS, Mobile Packet Received etc) is calling the service the most.

See if you can identify the app/services that is calling it (throughout the night) even though you are not actively using the phone.

Turn off wifi and Bluetooth scanning in Locations.

I encountered the same battery drain as well. Turning off these two solve the issue for me.

Just want to check whether this is because of HTC Sense or screen issue. I noticed that when I'm at the main screen, the top and bottom portion of the screen is slightly dimmer. When I open the Apps, I did not see this behavior.

Likely it's the wallpaper issue? try changing the wallpaper and check if it's still like that, I dont have this issue on my phone.

I don't think it is not a wall paper issue but rather HTC Sense 8 Mateiral design.

Well, not because of my eyes sharp, it is just quite obvious. I think very high chances it is intentional since when I tried using other Apps (e.g. playing video horizontally with YouTube), I don't see such issue.

Just a guess la bro! Hope you solved your issue :)

Well, it is not really a issue to me. I just want to make sure it is not my LCD screen or hardware issue. :)

The NFC seems weak, but it should still work when being read by a terminal. It's pretty sensitive to placement, so try to position the area above the camera directly in the center of the reader's active area at a close distance in 1 swift move. Mine works everytime at terminals now after I've gotten used to doing it.

As a reader, my set currently behaves the in the same way as yours. Before the 1.8x firmware update, it was able to intermittently read most of my ezlink/flashpay/credit cards, so hope they can fix it via software. It can read some transit cards like OCTOPUS and Taiwanese ones reliably though.

Is your unit able to read CC?

I tried again today at NTUC to pay using the NFC, able to detect, but with error. :(

Never know this option, I thought pressing it will start wifi scanning. :s13:

Will give it a try, thanks.

I like to know if anyone else is having the same issue. its just me then I will uninstall the 3rd party apps one by one--will probably take days if not weeks--to iron out the culprit.

Mine can't detect CC anymore after the 1.8x software update.

Try to do Android pay at the home screen, not when in the Android pay app.
For NTUC, I position the phone centrally w.r.t. the reader's LCD, with the long edge of the phone LCD parallel to the long edge of the reader's LCD, and with the top of the camera at the top half of the reader's LCD.

@shawniiex (sp) and @garychengjw sent it into a cup of water (idek how I did it, phone too smooth). Not even full immersion, just top half of the phone. At the start whole phone working, only WiFi not working and water vapour at camera lens. Then suddenly now they tell me upper board, mainboard, lower board, LCD and even back cover spoil. (wtf? What could possibly be spoilt on the back cover with water??) Total $951-10%.

And no I rejected quotation, said they might as well tell me to buy a new phone that cost me lesser. My mistake for dropping but seriously, cost of repair higher than price of phone??! That's plain stupid.

Any idea how do we know if the htc 10 bought in sg will work in US? Possible to check?

My htc m8 doesn't work with US sim.

Sent from ME using GAGT

Best you check with bands the local set has.
Some telcos overseas may still be using CDMA and such.
Eg Verizon.
Also when you go overseas, do some research before getting a sim.
Like I went China and got a china mobile sim card.
But I didn't have 4g.
