Hi,
I'm planning to build a HTPC in my living room that will serve as some sort of a home media center for movies from my NAS, and connected up to my 40" Samsung TV.
My rig in mind:
Case: *
Processor: i3-4130
SSD: Samsung EVO 120gb
RAM: 2x4gb ram *
Mobo: Gigabyte-GA-H87M-D3H or Gigabyte-GA-B85M-D3H*
OS: Windows 7/8.1
PSU: *
HDD: connected to my 4TB NAS via LAN
ODD: built-in for ripping and bluray
* = recommendations would be appreciated
Remarks:
It will be running 24/7, torrenting stuffs and also unzipping of movie files. I don't think there is a need for a GPU unless you guys recommend otherwise. The smaller, the better.
My concerns would be the continuous torrenting, downloading and unzipping of files straight to my NAS, all happening in the background as it will still be used for normal surfing cum watching of Full HD movies via HDMI.
Are my current selected hardware overkill? Or "just nice"?
