Hi I would like to setup a home server with a ftp file server capability and a possible simple web hosting server in near future. Hopefully can use sql and apache too.

Budget 300 for a running unit with around 1TB storage for now.

Turning on for 24/7 so power efficiency is needed.

Will be plugging with ethernet cable for network connectivity

Possible?

Since you even considered Raspberry Pi, sorry to say you are a victim of marketing targeted at hipsters with no perspective of computing performance.

Let me put it this way... a $50 China handphone has more processing power than Raspberry Pi.

What are your requirements. E.g. processing power

If you're new to this, just grab an old computer.

Performance per watt only goes higher with technological advances.
