Hualien Area

I've been to Taiwan quite a few times, however I had never been to Hualien Area.

I am planning a trip to Taiwan this december and would like to know how you guys usually travel about in Hualien Area. Is there Uber or the buses there are accessible? Quite interested in Taroko Gorge and Qi Xing Tan.

Do recommend me other places that are worth visiting too! I will be in Taiwan for about 2 weeks. Will spend a few days in Taipei and maybe Taichung.

You will take a train to Hualien.
In between, suggest on getting a bicycle if you are taking it slow in Taroko gorge.
Another way is to get on the hualien bus service to taroko but frequency need to verify again.
Lastly, qi xing tan nothing much.

Do read up and check on where other places you can explore online.

Agreed. qi xing tan nothing much. just a beach and some roadside stalls selling snacks. can spend an evening there at most.
Most people go taroko gorge (can spend 2-3 days exploring all the trails if you're interested) and the night market (the arcade games are super addictive).

Other than that, during the day you can walk around the "triangle". basically shops located in a triangle. food, clothes, but nothing much.

i would suggest going alishan/yilan before going taipei.
or maybe go down towards kaoshiung.

activities wise, there's dolphin watching and whitewater rafting.

What I will do:
Stay a night at jiaoxi hot spring hotel, next day morning take train to hualien, explore Taroko Gorge. Then decide to where to stay depend on your plan.
