i will be going to Taiwan for ard 10 days.
planning to stay in Hualien for 2 nights.

any suggestions on where to stay?
we have a group of 6 and are planning to stay at some mingsu or backpackers inn.

u can dl the taiwan wlmj guide from one of d thread in this forum.. inside shud haf minsu & hotels of taiwan/hualien...

Just got back from Taiwan and stayed at a Minsu in Hualien.
Highly recommend it. It's new, clean and rooms are well furnished.

the service is great . just came back from there only.
the auntie there will help u to arrange the places to go and help you book cabbie.
but for now i dun recommend going there because its too cold. its 12-15 degrees here
the attractions there like rafting and taroko gorge is better to go during summer where the water levels are higher

u can just email the person in-charge Auntie Liu. try to email in chinese easier for her to read

Take Kuoguang bus to Taipei Main Station from the airport then take TRA to Hualien Station..

Not sure if there are direct buses from the airport to Hualien..

I think no direct buses..the furthest a bus can go from taipei is up to luodong or yilan, thereafter have to change to train.

Anyway i recommend Easttown26 hotel in hualien. It is even cheaper than minsu if book thru agoda and is near to both the beach and city. We liked it so much we cancelled our minsu reservation to extend our stay in this hotel.

In that case then better to TRA direct from TMS to Hualien..

As for myself, already book rooms with Bayview Hualien for my next month end trip..

Think only till Taipei. If there is to yilan, also very limited. Best still back to Taipei or Taoyuan TRA station to Hualien.

And do not board taroko n puyuma without any tickets. Recently 132 passengers had been fined 50% more on top of the standard fares due to boarding without tickets issued for that train number.

Yes. It will be at Hualien 前站。

TO GET to Hualien from Taipei, take a train from Taipei Main Station to Hualien Train Station. The journey takes about two hours by express train, and
Don't take the local trains cos the journey is about 4 hrs

Thk for all your info. How about from taipei to yilan. Any express train stop at yilan? I looking at yilan n/or HL in my coming trip.
