got this phone a couple of days ago, the 4g version. note that there are 2 versions - 3g version at $299 and 4g version at $399 (rrp).
the build is plastic, but its quite solid with no creaks. the phone is very light, screen is good. camera has good contrast and colour, but the noise reduction can be a bit over the top at times. battery life is good, I managed 15 hours on battery, 5.5 hours on screen time, mostly reading email, surf net and half hour of flash video streaming, all on 4g. the performance is pretty fluid too, no problems playing intensive games like nba2k14. the earphone jack placement is a bit weird as its on the left side, so it might block the hand when the phone is being held on the left hand and the earphone is plugged in.
it is targeted at the entry-mid level category. I also have the lg f70, and both phone have similar specs and are direct competitors in terms of specs and price.
pros for f70:
longer battery life. removable battery.
ir blaster.
thinner bezels at the sides.
pros for g6:
better camera.
higher resolution screen. wide-screen format.
capacitive keys are lit, unlike f70 which is not lit.
stereo fm radio, f70 radio is mono.
lighter than f70.
8gb internal storage (5+ gb usable), compared to 4gb (1.7gb usable) on f70.
sd card can be set as default storage on g6, so space issue is non existent. f70 is limited to 1.7gb internal storage, storage runs out fast if downloading large apps/games and the apps/games cannot be moved to sd card.
led notification on phone, f70 does not have.
wireless display (miracast) support on the 4g model. the 3g and f70 does not have wireless display support.
battery optimization apps that control the cpu usage and which apps to run after screen is off, the latter part is similar to the stamina mode on Sony androids. also can set which apps can use network.
