Hi, I've the non-pro Mate 20, and this tempered glass screen protector I have from Mobilesquare is bothering me somewhat. The screen protector doesn't go to the edge, leaving quite a bit of space. The reason given was that the screen is slightly curved, so this is by design. Is this really so? As far as I can tell this Mate 20 screen is flat. Anyone's Mate 20's tempered glass screen protector goes to the edge? If so, where did you get it?

There is a very slight 2.5D at the extreme end, so if using a full clear glass, there will be a tiny line of white air gap. My $5 tempered glass from taobao work well with full coverage and full adhesive.

first of all, did they tell you in advance (before you pay) that their SP does not cover the entire screen and the reason was given? If they said that and you accepted their reason then nothing to say already...

but if they never tell you before you paid and they stick it, then they're not being honest upfront.

from your pic, the SP is obviously wrong size, curved edge or not. and like the other bros have said here, mate 20 supposed to be relatively flat, much flatter than the pro.

i'll be quite pissed if they didn't tell me in advance and only know after they stick. will demand they take the sp back without paying.

I only found out and asked about it AFTER it was pasted on for me. First time getting tempered glass for a phone so I didn't know whether this was a norm. Thought Mobilesquare supposed to be trustworthy so I didn't think much about it on the spot. Some more, I flew off on a holiday a few hours after getting the phone to take pictures, so don't think they're going to accept refunds now (almost 3 weeks ago already) Over time, it just looks less and less right, the more I look at it. Think I'll call them up and ask what's going on with this crap SP, seeing some of you mentioning SPs with full coverage. So the guy at Mobilesquare was really just ********ting.

Any bros here know a REAL reputable shop to get a tempered glass SP pasted for my Mate 20? Challenger Bugis don't have such service right? I suck at pasting SPs, ALWAYS got dust trapped underneath Never tried the "steamy toilet" trick though.


Oh yah, one more thing.. Mate 20 came with a film SP factory-applied. Is the tempered glass SP supposed to go ONTO the film one without removing the film one first? Because this was what the guy at Mobilesquare did. Function of screen is ok, looks a bit weird around the edges, but just curious if this can cause any problems in the long run?

Definitely not supposed to paste over the film protector.

I'm not sure if Mate 20 screen is actually flat or not because i encountered "white sides" when i put the full (black border) tempered glass too

The "white sides" can be "removed" when you apply some oil and this is the end result of my Mate 20 below

mobilesquare @ far east plaza that one right? I tot they are quite reputable... until I myself also got smoked by them once. had my mate 10 pro (in 2017) and went to them to get SP. end up they put one with black border (due to slight curved edge) but the transparent parts are not glue type so the screen got the 'rainbow' effect cos it's not entirely pasted onto the screen.

that time didn't know about black border SP so was naïve and didn't know that only the border is glued. they also never bother to tell me.

never went back to them again since.

and yes the original film should be removed.

I dunno why you change the default screen protector. The default is already damn good.

Thanks all for pictures of your Mate 20, and suggestions on where to get proper tempered glass SP. Further proves there's something seriously wrong with mine. Even if the SP don't go right to the edge, also shouldn't leave SO MUCH UNCOVERED. I'm going to contact Mobilesquare and see what they have to say.

Yep the default one for the Mate 20 is very good and smooth, still using it until it gets old and needs replacement.
@XiHamKueyTiao certainly that SP doesnt look right sized and definitely shd not be pasted over the existing SP!!! :O

The default one is fine but also attracts a lot of dust than other screen protectors that I've used.
