if you are currently using a Huawei phone (i.e. older model) that has Google apps, you can clone that phone to a new phone. then your new Huawei will have Google apps installed...

But not GMS, so some application may still fail eg Google pay.

Can we transfer WhatsApp over from iPhone to nova 7i?

Or must we side load WhatsApp? It’s part of my daily work which WhatsApp is heavily used.

Google is just a search engine. You can use Duckduckgo.

You can use other 3rd party app to access Gmail. The Huawei email app also can do it..

Listed price from Lazada Huawei Flagship Store for Nova 7i is S$388 whereas Nova 5T is at S$458. However there are shops selling at S$408.

If the price difference is not that much, then Nova 5T is a better phone with better CPU (Kirin 980 vs Kirin 810), with NFC and GMS.

It is said that you can get Nova 5T below S$400.

I bought the Nova 5T as a telco set for S$28 with my SingTel Combo 2 plan last December. I will say it is pretty good.

Now it is free with the same Combo 2 plan. Usually the subsidy is about S$350 to S$400 for mid range phones for my plan, so indeed it SingTel values Nova 5T at about S$400.

Huawei nova 5T's cpu is more powerful, Kinin 980 vs 820 for nova 7i, more powerful in the camera for nova 5T but problem is 5T do not have expansion memory SD card slot and 3.5mm audio jack. I heard Google is now plugging the loophole one by one and it is very troublesome in installing GMS into Huawei phone compare to 2 month ago.

With 128GB built-in memory in Nova 5T, it should not be a big problem for most of the people. You can always use Google Photo or a USB Type-C Flash Drive to backup the Photos if you exceed the memory.

Nova 7i uses Huawei proprietary NM card for expansion which is not cheap.

BTW, Nova 7i uses Kirin 810 (4G chipset) and not Kirin 820 (5G chipset).

As for the lack of 3.5mm audio jack in Nova 5T, it should not be an issue, now that it is pretty cheap to buy a Type C to 3.5mm converter.

GMS in Nova 5T and decent HW spec make it one of the best buy for Huawei phones now. P30 is of course better in terms of screen and camera, but it costs a bit more. P30 Pro is the best Huawei phone with built-in GMS, but the cost is still high.

Your points are right, I may switch to nova 5T. Btw, I think getting a 5G phone is no use, eg the new mid-range nova 7 SE as the 5G may just come another 12 month or 18 months later.
