Anyone thinks that Xiaomi might get affected in a similar way after what happened to ZTE and now Huawei?

Xiaomi won't be a target. It's not as big as Huawei. And they don't do carrier-grade telecom equipment used in telco networks; Xiaomi is purely consumer electronics.

Ironically the US is executing its political agenda in the ways they are accusing Huawei of: "Close ties and heavy influence by the CCP".

Aside from politics, I feel Google has way too much control over android phones.

Imo this isn't about "national security" or "IP theft". It's just the US being forced into Protectionism when they can't compete with Huawei on 5G

....

Why shouldnt they since they own the product? Ultimately they are the vendor even though its open source now. Same thing goes to Java (belonging to Oracle).

Love it or hate it, its someone product. :s13:

Open source means source code is published to who ever need to use it to developement. But it does not means it is free especially if you are using it in a commercial product and selling it at profits.

Not true. Open source doesn’t restrict use in this manner.

Please Google wiki. Free to use the source code, modified etc. But not equal to free of charge. The license still belong to the product owner.

Please read the Apache license terms which most of AOSP is licensed under.

Yes. Please read carefully on term and condition to use a open source license.
