Huawei P50 series (Now this is game changing)

Without 5G, Huawei's P50 and P50 Pro phones won't even sell well in China. 2021 will show a big hit to its handphone business. By 2022, if it still has no access to the high-end chipsets, its handphone business could be largely gone.

I'm using HERE WeGo map. It is very useful for drivers.

Mate 40 Pro can use Waze map app too

M11 is a good phone as well. I am too used to HW phones since Mate 20X due to the superb battery life and speedy interface. Hence, I stick to HW phones but my alternate choice would be XiaoMi followed by One Plus if HW couldn't come out with newer model due to sanction.

I have a Oneplus 8....also a good phone.


However interestingly, the phone flash storage speed is slower than Mate 40 Pro

To be frank, the only google app which I used now is Youtube (vanced) which can easily be replace by other FOC app. I dun use gmail, maps, drive, etc.. I do not feel "empty" without these apps and in fact, the whole phone feel much snappier without google apps. Using HW phones till now, only one app which is not supported is Shenton Medical ecard. Well, this doesn't bother me as I dun go to Shenton to see a doctor. I just go to normal GP and Copay $5 which is the same as Shenton medical. I am waiting for HW Petal One to launch outside China, it's a all in one storage, movies, music subscriptions, (some 3rd party vendors included) which is similar or copy of Apple subscriptions.

Does Grab work on HMS phone? I vaguely remember someone mentioned Grab will not show map without GMS, though still kina usable.

Last time nope, map not showing. Now yes and is working perfectly regardless of buying food or booking a car. The app is available in Huawei App Gallery itself.

GPay I think confirm cannot. Gmail can be setup using the inbuild mail client or u can even download outlook from Microsoft to receive Gmail. I am not too sure about the gmail app cos I never use that app before.

They removed periscope lens and brought back monochrome lens from P20 series.

Maximum zoom range is only 3.5 times which is lower than P30 Pro.

Aurora store is safe to use, it has its official store too. My Mate 40 Pro has this store too.


Huawei has its own email app, you can setup your Gmail account on the app. It is also safe

I read somewhere (I think XDA) Aurora source apk are from google playstore. When Playstore had new updates, Aurora will have similar new updates. I used Aurora store for coming 1 year already.

P40 Pro+ white.. The screen is a bit too small for my liking.

You are right also. Google main source of income is from advertisements.
