The android HiFi cast app seems very good for playing lossless .FLAC or .WAV audio files.

When my phone moves out of wifi range the music stops and then resumes when I come back in wifi range or sometimes it shows a timeout error message.

Anyone know any windows 10 app similar to hifi cast on Android? I haven't been able to find one that's free.

The windows 10 right click on a .FLAC or .WAV music file and selecting "cast to" feature used to work but now doesn't work anymore.

Thanks a lot. The universal media server can play lossless files to the Huawei Sound X via wifi.

However, it only plays one file at a time. Do you know if it is possible to get it to play a list of songs to the Huawei Sound X?

I also have 2 sound x, both SG version with latest firmware. Unfortunately, no matter what i do, i am unable to pair them into stereo. I read somewhere on a European site that Huawei Sound X pairing is only available for the Chinese version, whilst the global version (also apparently Singapore/MY) don't have this capability for now. Sooo disappointing. It's just a dumb speaker, albeit a good sounding one.

Yes. The local Huawei customer service sucked. I'd have expect the staff would at least consult Huawei in China on when the stereo feature would be available.

I just installed Duplex Media Player + for Windows. It can cast to all uPnP renderers and play from DLNA servers.

It includes youtube, vimeo, dailymotion, shoutcast, Twitch, Soundcloud etc.

After checking out for 2 days, I would say it is far better than Hifi Cast. Why? You can Audio Cast it to more than 1 renderer. If you have 2 Sound X, you can now stream to both at the same time.

It also include Download and Recording function. So you can record live stream of your games from Twitch or Download videos and music from any of the streaming channels included. It also connect to your local NAS/DLNA storages and stream Video or Audio to your speakers and TVs.

Thanks. I hesitated to try it as I have to pay for a license on Windows 10 to use it to stream to the Huawei Sound X.

Currently HiFiCast which you recommended to me is great. Always play music from my OPPO R15 phone all through the day and night via wireless to the Huawei Sound X. Such a low power device too compared to a windows 10 PC's power consumption.

You are correct. You need to pay to use Duplex Media Player Premium but for $10 for lifetime use is not too bad. Especially you can stream to multiple DLNA/UPnP speakers simultaneously. Useful if you are having a party.

I have also discovered that you can stream from Spotify to Sound X on your phone using an app called HiFy and from Soundcloud to Sound X via BubbleUPnP. I am happy with Hi-fi cast as it is the simplest to use for local music and from NAS. It is a shame not from Spotify.

I'm using it every night when I sleep, playing nice soft music. Then I remove my living room Sony HT-ST5000 to free up more space, then place my 2nd Sound X there to replace my Sony. Till now, the replacement is worth it and the sound produced is more than good enough for movies, TV etc.

It's only a single speaker, so it's in mono.

The China version can operate in stereo mode but we cant get it here in Singapore.

Yes. I do that too. Streaming flac or wave audio at night in my bedroom using hi-fi cast.

Amazing it takes only 30% off my Xiaomi MI10T Pro phone's battery. So only 1.5 watts for 8 hours of playing music. On my PC it would have taken so much more power.

Also no need for all the thick expensive copper wiring that the old speaker / amplifier setup would have needed.

Yes. So far I am using HiFy to connect Spotify to Sound X. Don't forget to set Quality to Extreme Quality.

i normally use for music but would like to pair this with TV or laptop.. but TV not bluetooth enable as old model LG.. laptop just use bluetooth?
using mate 20 pro so can cast movies onto tv, hence able to project sound if use bluetooth on sound x?
any simple application ?

It only has Bluetooth connection. The other way to work around this is to have a Bluetooth transmitter from your TV.

Find a Bluetooth transmitter that suits your TV.
