To keep HWZ relevant and free?

As much as i find the PMs annoying, it is just 1 click to delete them. Maybe they should include an option to opt out of ADs for deluxe. Or is there already 1?

Thanks for your feedback. As mentioned below, if you are a frequent checker of your PM box, it only takes 1 click to delete it without having to open it. We seldom send out more than 1 PM a month unless there is an upcoming tech show or major event.

And yes, Deluxe Members are not included when Mass PMs are sent out.

Free, ok, but what the relevancy is doing in this business.

And by the way, HWZ is NOT free, if it was, there would be no ads at all.

When you don't pay, you are the product.

errrr ok, i registered with hwz waaay back in 2004. Similar t&c probably existed, but then again it was with the previous owners and not with SPH.

It was only 2 years later that SPH actually owns 100% of shares in the entire share capital of Hardware Zone Pte Ltd. Og which, i dont recall having needed to agree to another T&C when it got bought over, but then again, it was really really long ago. The T&C that you hyperlinked was last updated on 5 September 2011. Even if it had gone thru multiple iterations, i, along with other members of hwz, wasnt updated on any of it.

Who is to say they did not update this part yesterday? or change it again 3 mths down the road without informing the users?

Many sites reserve the rights to amend and update their policies as they deem fit. We have done so whenever necessary in the old days and it applies even now.

Nothing unusual here.

Back to the initial query, I believe the admin has replied on it.
At that frequency, it is certainly not spam.
What may not appeal to you might do so for others and vice-versa. That's the nature of these things. What we do however is to control the frequency closely.

Thanks for your kind understanding.
