Hybrid Drive for Windows XP ?

Hi there. I read somewhere before that XP does not work well with hybrid drive or does not take advantage of the drive.

But can't find the article now. Any advice ?

My motherboard is old, no Sata3. Which drive should I go for ? Any suggestion.

Why don't upgrade to Win 7? XP support stop 8 Apr 2014.

Considering. but hdd now got problem. So need to change hdd first.

XP does not support trim.

recommend TS straightaway go for windows 7 or 8, with ssd, skip all those hybrid stuff
sata3 is backwards compatible with your motherboard (i assume its sata2) although u wont be able to experience the full speed, its still significantly faster than mechanical hdd
if u can find a good used sata2 ssd then u can save same $$

Does Hybrid drive have TRIM ? Seems like Seagate SSHD does not. I can't find the info.

actually ah, don't care about TRIM too much... even if your computer does not support TRIM, the SSD would still "sort itself out" and clear unneeded stuff as and when it is needed... since you're not going to do heavy benchmarking, i suppose the internal garbage collection mechanism would work fine... all modern SSDs come with GC...

All modern SSDs/SSHDs have in-built garbage collection, but XP doesn't have native TRIM. I'm not sure about Seagate, but Intel and some of the other SSD manufacturers have manual/scheduled TRIM utilities for their own drives.
