I think in japan, the cost of the house wont kill you but maintenance or even demolishing it is going to cost you alot. Most ppl dont even want to inherit these houses, they simply abandon it.
Yes now alot of empty houses... Younger gen not keen to be in debt

Sounds like a good business idea. Buy over the house cheap. Rebuilt it and sell for profit

Theres no hidden cost for foreigners... its just that even locals dun want these houses due to high taxation and costly repairs (due to high wages).

cheap house = there's gotta be a catch somewhere. Them nihonjins very one kind one.

i always find it funny that people actually like japan.


anyway, they are an aging/dying population. maybe once their actual japanese population dwindles to a much smaller number, can consider migrating there and take over their land

Like what type of issues? You mean cheap means it's not good? Strange ideas to edmwers who believed cheap is equal to good.

heavy snow in some parts of hokkaido. very tiring just to clear snow. and of cuz risk of earthquake as well

Never mention property tax, repair and maintenance costs and other fees charged by prefecture govt.
