Expensive. But well, not as much as HyperJuice.

$129 is about there for such capacity. If I buy 6 li-ion battery and case, will be around $90-$100 also. Add on cables and stuff, about there.

I would prefer to DIY my own unlimited version for use via a cigarette lighter adapter.

$129 is for the 16000mah battery from gmarket. Hyperjuice is $399, hyperjuice2 is $429 ,both based on June's over show pricing.

Hyperjuice is 27000mah.

16000Mah can charge less than 1 complete charge for rMBP

Any owner of HyperJuice want to share their user experience? Tempted to get one but cannot imagine carrying a 2kg+ portable battery on the move.

I'm currently using the Hyperjuice first generation bought from Nubox.

Do take note that the Hyperjuice allows the laptop to be charged for one more cycle. For example, if your Macbook Pro lasts for 2 hours, the Hyperjuice gives it 2 more hours (depending on the tasks you do).

It is great as a backup alternative especially if most Starbucks is not allowing customers to plug into their outlets. However, if you intend to use your Macbook/Pro for the entire working day, it may not be able to last unless the applications run are word processing/internet browsing etc.

And yes, it isn't light at all. Much like a brick, I must say.

Nope... the voltage for the cells is only 3.7V so the actual capacity for this powerbank is only at 16000*3.7 = 59.2wh. The 13" MBP battery has 63.5wh and the 15" RMBP has close to 100wh. If you factor in the power wastage during the charging process, this 16000mah powerbank can only charge the RMBP up to 40% max.

If you look at the original Hyperjuice models, they are rated at more than 100Wh.

I'm not sure if your calculations are correct, but I doubt the operating voltage is so low at 3.7v. Typical laptops are running at 10.8v thereabouts which is three 3.7 li-ion batteries series connected and parallel-connected to give the required output.
