I switched region from SG to MY as you said and updated from 2.0.205 to 2.0.206 then 3.0.9. Thanks for the tip. Didn't know Xiaomi was so racist.

Taiwan region fastest to get updates from what I observe.

For me. I'm not in a hurry to update. And I heard some caused problem after the update. Best to get the stable version
To me, I didn't wait for HyperOS 3 specifically but *any update*, because I heavily debloated (reading: uninstalled a lot of junk apps in Xiaomi phone including system apps) and DNS-blocked all ads and trackers including Xiaomi, so I worried that the updates would never come because I accidentally uninstalled or blocked something crucial. FYI, I didn't even receive 2.0.206 update before switching region.
Furthermore, the battery-idle mode didn't work well, so I was hoping it would be better after updates.
BTW, I received 3.0.10.0 without needing to switch region. This doesn't make sense to me.
Have you heard about FOMO?
Most notably HyperIsland as you said. I suspect it allows you to play YouTube in the background without paying for subscription, but I didn't test it because I use Revanced.
Some features may be useless to me but exciting to you. Check the official news release for the full list of features & updates. Or forum reviews.

Sorry, if you are not getting updates for too long means something is wrong.
Not everything needs patience otherwise, once out of warranty one is on your own and XM wouldn't assist to upgrade even if its possible.
Speaking from experience.
in fact, im not alone, even same model of other countries are also the same. i have been following hyperos subreddits. my model is 13T
