so mods/admins close a thread bec there are clones posting on it?
if clones post in every thread, will u all close every single one of them?

I guess mods/admins also recognize the closure action was incorrect since the thread has been reopened.

yes this is a trivial thread of absolute non importance but its not the first thread tat get
mysteriously canned with no reason watsoever. the concern here is mods/admins being trigger happy,
haphazardly perform action without any thought.

i urge 3 course of action:

1. provide a justifiable reason upon every thread closure.
it seems some mods are doing it but some are not.

2. address the spammer or trouble user case directly
not bec of a single post implicate a whole thread with dozens or hundreds of posts

3. have a uniform understanding/agreement among the mods and admins
on how to handle problematic users/threads

U must understand that sometimes an old thread is closed without mod post so that the date+time stamp will remain in the distant past instead of the date+time stamp of the mod post.

mysteriously too... something seems to be really going on
have i offended anyone in power and i'm in process of being pruned?

i hope admins/mods who they are serving users really mean

i'm not blind to see trouble makers, take example this spammer
http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/users/604259/

if every single thread he up is closed and locked and u ban his acc
and bury your head in sands hoping he will just go away?!

when he return with new account and continue his act which he will...
does tat means u will continue to nuke threads again?

so such an individual can actually influence and bring down whole forum?
he actually got wat he wanted wats there to discourage him from doing it again?

even if u play whack a mole u dont nuke the whole farm
once again i urge this there should be an understanding reached between the admin/mods
stop problematic user dont implicate the threads

sure these arent too meaningful threads tat need to be preserved but nuking isnt a solution
once again i urge the admins/mods to have a common understanding among ALL of u on this
whack the problematic user not the threads he is harassing

if i continue to close does this means the spammer can indirectly terminate all my threads as he continues?

Hello Radish,

Sorry about the confusion.
I've since reinstated the said threads

I would watch out for your threads in the future.
Sorry about that again.

Regards,
Petpet.

thank you for all your help

though these arent valuable threads, just gossipy shallow stuff
they are all in name of gd fun and chitchat in edmw spirit

i dont think we all like to revisit this again,
if i may humbly remind yet again, kill spammer,
dont kill not the threads they spam in,
minimize collateral damage :o

Firstly, I cannot believe the bureaucracy that exists in this forum. Petpet had asked me to post the opinions here rather than escalate it up. (Refer to http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/80280550-post13.html)

Next, what is the point of unlocking aged-old threads - 3 months or more (this is just my own gauge, some may feel that a month is old enough) inactive old threads in EDMW - when numerous threads get created on a daily basis? The threads were seen by many - time to move on. No point digging it up every few other months - or at worse, a year or two - for all to view it again. It gets stale.

Moreover, at times, you see Radish posting his aged-old links in threads that are minutely and remotely correlated. Does this constitute as an attempt to encourage other users to dig into the threads per se?

Lastly, locking threads are a good preventive measure for diggers. However, it solved the problem only on a short term basis. Long term wise, it is better that another approach is employed. If the need does arise for any TS whose threads were locked in wanting (or needing in extreme cases) such threads to be unlocked, please proceed with prudency. What is the point of unlocking an old inactive thread for it to be susceptible to diggers yet again?

the problem here i feel isnt digging old threads so simple
if the digger(s) focus on certain user(s) or a certain type of thread(s)
this isnt random digging of old stuff, there is malicious intent involve

there are problematic ppl who found a way to influence/exploit the forum bec they realize
if they do things certain way, the mods will come in and destroy the threads

these diggers sacrifice a minute young new account can terminate
multiple threads tat may have thousand posts, isnt tat a gd deal?

honestly if u see old threads updated with new content is tat a bad thing?
or u prefer ppl create threads repeating on old content?!

and wat abt users who actually genuinely like certain threads to be updated
bec of personal interest, curiosity and bec of not mischief?
these ppl wont be digging a dozen threads at same time

again i humbly remind, kill the spamming digger not the threads they digging
