Okay, maybe I'll try to explain as why moderators sometimes feel the need to lock the thread after flushing the spammers. Every time, a spammer posts in an old thread, it gets pushed up and therefore pushing down the more current and/or relevant threads.
Spammers typically search for threads based on keywords of their own device and typically spam posts in those threads that turn up. Even if we ban that account, either the spammer creates another account to spam in those threads again, or one of the members continue to post complaining about the digger and pushing up the thread again. This is typically the reaction the spammer wants.
So to prevent that, it's a simple practice to lock aged threads, especially if they do not have content of substance.
@ radish: While you claim that the spammers are targeting your threads, some have claimed that it is you who created these spamming accounts to push up your own threads. Since we don't jump to conclusions based on those claims, I suggest that you don't jump to conclusions about the moderators.
So, we do ask the members to actively report these threads, as more eyes do help us in reducing the amount of spamming.
