Setting up a desktop , which will gives a better performance? Using all same items except CPU and memory. OS will be 64 bits.

CPU is i3 4340 (3.6 ghz,4mb)
Memory is 8 gb of DDR3 1600

CPU is i5 4570 (3.2 ghz,6mb)
Memory is 4 gb of DDR3 1600

if for simple web surfing, microsoft office stuffs, G3220.
If for web surfing, microsoft office and light gaming, I3
If for gaming, I5. Btw depends on what games you are play, lets say BF4, get 8gb, but if Dota 2, CS-go, 4gb will be enough

Very much depends on what is your needs.

Light gaming you can go for 4gb and i3 instead.

If you tend to game a lot best is an i5 pair it with 8gb. Games like bf4 tends to take up more than 4gb.

To my knowledge, it depends whether u need speed or performance....high speed may not necessary be better performance.....so it's all due to individuals.....
Would highly recommend u to goto Harvey Norman shop to buy if u r interested to get one since they provide longer repair warranty....

8gb since we are already x64 era. 4gb gonna be obsolete soon. (just my normal system running with utorrent and chrome already use 3.1gb). 8gb and above also allows you to lower ur page file to minimum or none - beneficial for ssds.

i3 (duo-core hypertread to virtual quadcore) is enough for most games even bf4. until u hit cpu heavy games like skyrim - then pls get a i5 (real quadcore)

If the i3's clock speed is higher than that of an i5, then the single thread performance of the i3 is better.

On the other hand, for most non game and non professional software, you cannot tell the difference b/w a desktop i3 or i5 of the same generation. Since Sandy Bridge, you can hardly tell the difference across generation unless running CPU heavy applications.
