oc'ed to 4.0 ghz
are my temps okay? worried that the cooler might not be installed properly as this is my first build

Your idle temps is abit too high, but load temp seems alright for this vcore. Think you can bump up to about 4.3Ghz. Mine 3570k can run 4.3Ghz at 1.24 vcore without any error or whea 19 warning idle about 35 degree, max about 88 degree. But one thing to note, not all chips are created equal.

running 1.435V@ 4.95 GHz.

max on load=87

idle=30

I have a i7 2600k with Hyper 212 Evo OC to around 4.2GHz. Idle temp is around 33-38C, load around 65-73C. But Ivy Bridge does indeed have higher temp than Sandy Bridge.

just for ref mine is at 3.8Ghz with 32-34C idle usually

Load max i have seen around 60C now

Vcore i think 1.21 ?

RealTemp 3.70 is giving me about 65C on about 33% Load. 4.5GHz OC'ed

Your Vcore Volt looks quite high :s22:

how much VTT are u feeding also ?

'Down-clock' to 4.3GHz, I think it's too hot.

Please advice since I'm a newbie at OC'ing.

i would advise not to judge by speed solely and u need to take note of your voltage also.

i am not very familiar with Sandy Bridge's CPU temp (your previous image went MIA but i thought i saw 2600k or 2500k) :p

in O.C it is easier to push from bottom to top notch by notch rather then fly to the top region straightaway.

Unless u are very familiar with the characteristics of the chip, if not i would advise u to push from a safer speed like 4ghz first.

find the lowest volt that will be stable for it and then push higher speed and increase the volt slowly.

How to find when there's so little room to play? People running 4.3GHz at around 1.2-1.3v, mine is already 1.355v on default setting :|

but looking at other forum's input, you could try 1.21-1.25 first.

i have seen reports of ppl going at 4.225 with 1.15V.

try turning options like PLL / Offset Voltage off first and solely use Vcore Voltage settings to check. What is the absolute minimum u need to boot and be stable at default stock speed. (U can use your Chip's VID as a gauge, its in CPUZ)

VID is a vcore value that is programmed into the chip. The mobo reads this value and applies vcore appropriately (but doesn't usually get it perfect) when everything is set to stock.

Vcore is the actual voltage being applied.

The vcore label you see in the BIOS is just a label. Use the vcore value you see in CPU-Z under load as your guage, and adjust the BIOS setting accordingly.

Testing VCORE now, 1.360v now...1.350v BSOD after 5mins.

" PLL / Offset Voltage OFF..." you mean auto? it's 1.8 default?
