I have a i5-4570 on a ASRock B85M, 8GB of system ram, 256GB SSD and a GTX 1060 6GB. I am getting very poor FPS 20+ at best when playing at 1920x1080 resolution. There is also a great deal of stuttering and lag that comes at inopportune moments.

I am wondering if it's my haswell i5/mb bottlenecking how well PUBG runs on my computer?

Since the GFX is pretty new, what are my upgrade options? I've thought of:

1)add 8gb of ram (if I can find some DDR3-1600)
2)replace the i5-4570 with a i7 or Xeon?
3)Get a new CPU/MB/RAM bundle.

Just to add, I was playing with textures and view distance on high, everything else low. I feel like I am not seeing what the GTX 1060 is capable of producing.

It's the game not your CPU. This game is badly optimized at the moment.

There are lots of negative reviews on Steam, including complaints about poor optimization.

u can try adding RAM to 16GB and install it on your SSD if you haven’t

the game is really garbage in terms of optimisation
for comparison, i can reach 80-90fps on Rise of the Tomb Raider on High
i struggle to reach that FPS on PUBG with everything low except view distance and AA

Play destiny 2 instead, runs like a dream on pc. This pubg is a mess in terms of optimisation. Rarely i see games that can hit 10gb of ram usage.

20fps? I think something wrong here even if game is not optimise also should not be so low. Do a search in this forum, remb someone also complained but his is 40-50 fps.

Firstly

WHAT QUALITY LEVELS ARE YOU RUNNING AT??

Haswells are still awesome for games at the moment.

My PUBG Benchies based on an I7-4790, 16gb Ram, GTX1060 3gb, SSD + HDD

PUBG MEDIUM = >60fps @ 1920x1080 144hz
PUBG HIGH = avg 55-60fps @ 1920x1080 144hz

You might want to retry
Could be a systems settings issue.

I5-6400 8gb Ram HDD GTX950 2gb
PUBG vLow = >60fps
PUBG Low - 40 - 60fps

Demise wanna run 80-90, quite irrelvant to your example. I think only 1080 can run 80-90 @1080 low.

Iirc I am running all settings low or ultra low cept for draw distance at ultra. I am 1080p @ 60hz.

Maybe I should try a system format and start from scratch. Probably more prudent than jumping into any purchase.

Try to delete and reinstall nvidia driver first (remb to use ddu). Less painful.

Are you running dual channel rams or just 1 stick of 8gb ram? If 1 stick only, consider getting another stick of 8gb ram for dual channel. Seems like there's major fps improvement due to that.

I would say do a system format, leave it as default as per what the game detects, and see the performance

Both mine and your system are somewhat on par vis a vis cpu gpu difference

so the framerates should not differ that greatly

THe I5 system i tested PUBG on had only a GTX950 and single 8gb stick. I had to run it on vlow to have any hope of hitting 60fps.

Just for comparison purposes

I redid the benchies at the Sosnovka island, Sosnovka Military Base ( the separate island with a military airport )
For simplicity sake, i ran a circle around the 2 Air to Surface Missile Defence Batteries while looking straight ahead

The results i got at FHD 1920x1080 @ 144
Low 80-110
Medium 70-90
High - 60-75
Ultra - 50-60

I didn't notice much difference between the above setting and using ultra Draw Distance and ultra AA. So i would recommend that you just use the sliders as default for testing purposes

I am running 2 x 4gb.

I ran a 3D Mark Time Spy 1.0 and I got a score of 3095.

The reference Gaming PC (HTC Vive/Oculus Rift min spec) got a score of 3362.
Intel Core i5-4590 Processor
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970
Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. Z97P-D3

Most similar systems seem to be scoring 3500-4500 range.

isn't timespy for dx12? try free 3dmark from steam and run firestrike benchmark? me using nvidia driver 385.41.

i tried time spy, got 3447 at combined score and for firestrike, it is 8400+ at combined score.

For your reference, using g4560, 2x4gb 2400mhz ram, 1060 3gb card (default profile) i am getting average 60+ on all high except effects at low, foliage at very low and distance at ultra.
