i5 4570 vs i7 4790

hi, my old cpu is i5 4570, is it much less powerful than a i7 4790? I can get it for a good price from a friend.

will changing cpu affects my desktop? like if I change ssd/motherboard, I have to reinstall windows.
I know ram does not affect, so does changing of cpu affects?

just remember to update bios, i5 4570 is haswell chip, i7 4790 is haswell refresh chip.

not all h81/b85/z87 support haswell refresh chip unless u update bios.

I see. So update bio for i7 4790 while my i5 4570 is installed. Will the updated bio affects my i5 4570 if i decided not to change cpu? My mb is asus B85m-G

Yup, I would take the i7. You might want to update the BIOS now before selling the i5.
