i5 6600k overclocking

Hi,

Any i5 6600k users overclock using coolermaster 212x cooler. ,tried 4.3ghz with 1.32v when running prime95 blend test temperatures range from 80-90s, is it alright if its used for normal usage below is mine uploaded video.

me same cpu running at 4.3ghz. Just monitor it daily and see if temps really 90+ or not. Stress test always 'kua zhang'.

My prime95 test 4 loops hit 95 degrees already. But in real life, no crash at all for about 4 months already.

i am on 6600k with noctua d15

4.4 with 1.28v no problem with strees test, been 4 month no issue

don't know leh...i just use motherboard on board button to OC.
I checked bios, core voltage is @1.136 (offset mode +).

Edit: wah..all 3 of us using Qnix monitors lolz.

4.5ghz @ 1.3v using cm212 push pull running fine daily.

max temp i ever saw was 65

1) don't use hardware monitor ... it's outdated .... use HWinfo64

2) don't use prime95 , it's not recommended for skylake and later , use something else closer to real world workload
go to overclock.net forums , intel cpu subforum , skylake owners thread ... download the ~400mb x264 benchmark and run it for 2 hours or (13 loops for 6600k)
after you can clear CPU overclock with ram at stock speed , push the ram to overclock and run the whole 13 loops again
when u clear it ... bump your voltage another 0.002 higher and you should not BSOD in real world usage
* I see you are using AUTO-overclock by motherboard , so this doesn't apply ... you just have to live with the excessive voltage and temperature because you didn't fine tune it manually

*this chart is from OCN forums , skylake only ... not for haswell and before
you see there is another +10 celcius between realbench and prime95 .... no point doing the extra heat not representative of real world workload

btw your rig seems a little toasty, saw your hdd/ssd running at 50+deg

for skylake overclock you should keep it below 80 d celcius and 1.4v for long term usage to prevent degradation ...


I running 4.62ghz 1.362v with 72 d celcius top on 1 core , other 3 core ~65 d celcius ... when running handbrake , no aircon
same cpu , manual overclock (adaptive mode with asus load line calibration lvl 3) , phanteks tc-14pe cooler with different fans


* in hwinfo64 , the cpu voltage is VCORE not VID which appear earlier in the list
*hardware monitor was abandoned by OCN enthusiasts from late 2015 to early 2016 because the developers lazy don't want to recode for skylake and many people get wrong cpu voltage

Hi, i using gigabyte z170mx gaming 5 manually set to 1.32v settings in bios how do i know if it is been auto oc?

usually to erase all trace of auto-overclock and redo everything manually , is use the "restore to default" button .... but you take note whether you have any special settings you want to keep and redo it later

there is a very good OC guide at overclock.net ....
the steps are update bios first , then OC cpu , oc ram , oc cache ....
many youtube overclock guides they anyhow tell people to click the XMP ram overclock first ... which is wrong and many hinder the last 100mhz CPU overclock .... the priority should be push the maximum to CPU first as it give the most benefit then slowly solve the other parts

can squeeze out another 2-3% which is equivalent to 1 multiplier on the cpu ....

cache oc to ~4300mhz also can squeeze out 1%
