i7-3720QM stepping E0

I'm not really sure, don't have an answer specific to your qn.

If you're really unsure of that specific stepping/revision and doesn't come from a more reputable buyer, don't get it. You never know if they perform on par with the tray/OEM final model as certain QS revisions are buggy.

However certain QS/ES sellers do hold certain stepping and QS that are better than the OEM version. Some even have unlocked multipliers and more L3 cache. Overall, just get it from a seller with a good track record. If you saw it on ebay or other ecommerce sites, of course, look at the seller's feedback.

thanks man. nothing wrong in the feedback so i assume its quite safe. just wanna check if any bros here have used or tried this cpu with stepping e0. only concern is its stability.

You probably won't find any feedback here, but looking through the feedback's actual comment *might* tell you something.

You are encountering any issue with this stepping? It is just an older revision, but I don't think there is any stability issues. The i7 3615QM on the laptop I am using now is on E1 stepping.

ahh icic. so only a minor stepping change from the retail. not bad then. nope I am currently not the holder of this cpu. im looking for laptop online and found one with this particular stepping. i guess wont be much diff then.

QS is quality sample. its much closer to the retail, and depends on the stepping, it can be as good as the retail. QS cpu should be more stable that the ES cpu. this is what i understand

yea the price is really alot cheaper. no prob for u so far? no blue screen no hang etc?

No, absolutely none. When I first received it, I ran Prime95 and Intel Burn-test overnight just to ensure that the system was stable, and have also encountered nothing out of the ordinary since then either.

I think these ES CPU's should be reasonably safe to use ba.

Yup you're welcome, for the price I bought this at, I could maybe only get an i7-2720QM OEM, so I think it's well worth it!

hey i just checked. retail stepping for yours is D2 source:ARK | Intel® Core.

and mine is E1， es version is E0 (ARK | Intel® Core)

so both cpu are lacking in 1 minor change. thats why its stable haha.

one question though. the revision and stepping shown in cpu-z are they related?
