Hi experts,

I have some question :) hope you guys are able to answer
My i7 3770k is running hot with my zalman cnps12x
Idle temps would be 38-40 but i notice my core 2 is much higher temp compare to the rest of the core? I try to resit my heatsink clean up and reapply still the same..
My stock clock now is 3.7ghz i disable my intergrated gpu from my processor .

Is the temp normal? Or can it better ?

update: ran prime 95, on load the difference between core 2 and the rest reduces to about 3-4
(Core 2 still's higher then the rest)

on idle : core 2 would be 7-9 hotter

guess it's how ivy works...

Its the delta temps that matter. Not the idle temps. A good cooler will be able to have a smaller delta.

Load can be 60C and idle can be 55C for all I care. But it's not possible luh because a cooler with that kind of cooling capacity would have a lower idle temp.

I looked through the net and found out that many ppl are having the same issue. Also happened to both 3770/3770K on my side.

It seems that that is the typical Ivybridge's behaviour, maybe it is due to the bad TIM Intel used for IVB instead of the fluxless solder used in SNB and previous procs.

Yep frm the lousy bad TIM they used... Apparently some folks after prying open and replace the TIM, somehow some folks ended up with a temp worse off before they started. Guess really a 50-50 chance if u want to try lol
