Hi all, got a Devils canyon two nights ago with the asus maximus vii hero.

Motherboard settings have been left alone other than setting for my RAMs to run at XMP Profile.

I have been running it on stock with the latest bios 1104 and I'm using the Corsair H105 as the cooler.

I am running 4x4 gb corsair dominator platinum CL9 at 2400MHz. These are verified to be working fine.

PSU has been doing fine as well.

1: The problem is that under OCCT, temperatures hit 80 Deg C within 5 seconds when doing small FTT (auto settings). My 3570k on my ex phanteks cooler gave me about 70Tmax.

2: 4 out of 6 times (within 45 seconds) it gives me an error. It may be error on core 1,3 or 4. Sometimes also just an unspecified error. This is on OCCT auto settling for small ftt

Intel processor diagnostic toolkit gives it a pass though.

Now, I need some validation from formidable experts to decide if I should sort it out with tradepac to get it replaced?

Is it on stock or overclocked settings?

I am actually not worried about the temps as the TIM on Intel cpus have been horrid. So hitting temps at 80 for a few seconds is considered normal. Just check that you have mounted the cooler properly and applied the thermal paste correctly to ensure contact.

I am more concerned on the errors by OCCT. Which means somewhere along the line is not stable. If on stock settings this is more troubling. Try restarting your computer and start OCCT after reboot and see if the errors persist. If still persist, shut down and check that all your connections, components are seated firmly and correctly. Sometimes it could a seating problem by the RAMs, power connectors not inserted firmly and completely, SATA cables not snugly inserted into HDD or SSD.

Turn off your XMP, run RAM at DDR3 1600 and try again. If not use only 2 sticks.

I've tried running the rams at 1333 and have gotten the same issue too. I have re seated the rams before but I'll check on the satas tonight. As for the temperatures it hits 80 in a few seconds and stays there through the test, not just for only a few seconds..

Dear TS,

When stress testing your CPU, your vcore will spike up if you set to auto.

Use manual setting to set the right vcore for your o/c. Good luck. :D

hey bro thanks, it turns out that it may be my ram that is not very suitable to run at 2400, stepped down to 2133 and it works out just fine. can do 4.6GHz with 1.200V, but I shall not press it any harder as it is already running at around 82 deg C on OCCT.

wkweewee are you using an H100i...? could you try doing an OCCT of Small data set just to compare the temps?

I just wanna confirm my hypothesis that the temperatures are due to our warm weather here.

Heyo today I have just re-tweaked my vcore and system is running stable at 1.21! But seriously, you have 4.6ghz at 1.200 stable? Super stable under full load?
