Skylake has dropped in price. When I checked two or three weeks back, it was about US$400 on Amazon. Now down to US$350.

If not for the fact that the MSI Skylake boards are so ugly, I might have changed to Skylake intead of getting another i7-4790K.

the motherboards for Z170 is still expensive.. even for low end ones:s22:

must drop further rah.. if not might as well get X99 :)

True. Anyway, I received my new 4790K a few days ago. Doubt I will be doing any more upgrading until Intel produce a decent CPU upgrade instead of the measly incremental improvements of the last few generations.

If you notice across the board the mobos are not only more expensive the clockspeeds have dipped (5% IPC increase is insignificant)

And the prices have gone up ... H170M Pro4 for example is 195. The H97M Pro4 retailed at 159

Skylake = waste of money. X99 just go buy from newegg/amazon :D

Skylake is overrated with that 5% ipc boost.

Really hope AMD Zen next year could bring Intel cpu to more competitive level. But den again I dont wish to pin too much hope on Zen (despite being designed from ground up by Jim Keller)

When Jim Keller zhao before it's completed then you can more or less pin hopes on Zen :s13: (Which he did actually)

Tiagong he is expensive to hire
when the cpu tape out , can let the cheaper engineers finish the final touchup on the design

mine is SR2BR ... any different with SR2L0?

found it  :(

Processors with SR2BR S-spec number do not support Software Guard Extensions.
The processor has the following security, data protection and/or software features: Intel Identity Protection technology, Secure Key, OS Guard, Boot Guard, BIOS Guard and Anti-Theft technology.
The CPU is compatible with DirectX 12 and OpenGL 4.4 APIs.
The graphics unit has the following software features enabled: Intel Wireless Display, Quick Sync Video, Clear Video technology, Clear Video HD technology, InTru 3D technology and Insider.
