i7 930 with Hyper212+ Temperatures

Hey guys, im real noobs at computers Im rather worried on my temps and would apprecaite some advice on this.

Im running an 930 at 3.6 GHz with a CM Hyper212+ cooler in a HAF-X. Vcore is at 1.2125, QPI/VTT at 1.395, DRAM 1.64.

Without my air-con on,Im using realtemps to monitor and it seems that my temps are pretty high:

Idle - 48 degrees
Load - 82 degrees (using primie95)

I`ve tried cleaning and reapplying the thermal paste (CF2) twice and still getting around the same figures. Think best I got was 79 degrees on a rainy day heheh.

Do these temp figures look ok to ya all? Or should I do something about it...would getting an additional fan for my hyper212+ help much?

Or should I just change my cooler to something more hardcore haha??

open up the casing and run, did the temperatures drop? (this troubleshootingstep learn from bro cnt one, very useful)

930 is a hotter chip.

show us ur build.

with 3.6ghz dun think u need to set ur qpi/dram vtt so high lower down bit by bit c if it post bsod. mine is 920 @ 4ghz qpi 1.38v understand both different chip/spect but can try lower or u just plug in the figure see can work but nv try lower. Btw wat is ur ram rating

i got my 930 oc to 3.8GHz @ 1.21875V (Vcore), 1.3V (QPI), and 1.60V (DRAM)
my idle is at around 42 ~ 48 (variation from different cores)
and load using IntelBurn Test at 78 degrees.

so yeah... if i lower further abit for any of this settings, i reached BSOD...
930 is hot chip... so hahas

oh btw, u don hav to bother about temp after running stress test...
normal usage, my max temp is only 68.

Marill: Im using the Haf-X casing exhaust fan. Haha dunno if strong,feels ok i guess. As suggested, later i`ll try running Prime95 blend with the casing open to see the temps

Kalikway: Hmm dunnno if my IMC cmi or wat. Tried and only 1.395 which is 2 settings above the previous failed voltage allows me to run without BSOD. I`ll try lowering both CPU voltage and QPI/VTT by one notch tonight.

Koikoe: Your voltage and temp settings seem similar to mine. Haha looks like i`m not alone..the 930 is pretty hot. Thanx for the info.

Anyways anyone have any idea when is the Silver Arrow coming out? Looks nice and I q.gian heheh. Also any info on price for this? Saw the noctua NH-D14 at $139 on Bell price list.
Both cooler look pretty massive and my ram height (54mm) probably wun permit so i guess i`ll have to move the extreme right fan to the left (beside the exhaust). Hope its possible..

Add 1 more pull fan to your Hyper 212+, and make sure the pull fan is stronger than your push fan. Also make sure the exhaust fan is stronger than your pull fan.

I've done this and with this alone, my temperatures dropped about ~4 degrees. I was also using Hyper 212+ when I added the pull fan, and it is quite effective.

Right now, I've changed to a Thermaltake Frio, and I'm getting only about ~1 to 2 degrees lower than with Hyper 212+, I spent extra $99 just to get a small improvement, in retrospect not worth it.... the Hyper 212+ is already very good performer liao.

How about your casing? if you open it and run do you get lower temperatures? If you do, then you may have airflow problem in your HAF X too.... try tidy up a bit inside the casing not to block airflow, and I learnt that it's important that the exhaust fans need to be on par or stronger than your CPU heatsink pull fan, so that all the hot air can be sucked out and not allowed to circulate around inside the casing warming everything up.

coming from a 6 heatpipe top blower zipang, down my temps by a good shot and the 2 140mm are good. if your case have space, it is more worth it than other heatsink

I am also using TT Frio,set both fan at max,using 2 CM SF 120mm 2000rpm/90cfm as rear & top exhaust,do I need to get a more powerful 120mm fan?If yes,can kindly reccomend 1?Thanks

I am using Gigabyte X58 UD3R motherboad with F11 bios version.
I updated to this bios version about 3 months ago and soon after i updated the bios, I realized that the v-core required increased by a slight amount.

I am using a core i7 920 with D0 stepping. I had always kept my overclock at 3.6 Ghz without turbo boost.

My old v-core used to be 1.046 but after i had flashed by bios from F8 ( due to my itchy hands ) it is unstable with that voltage and requires 1.088 currently.

Does anyone face a similar situation using the same processor and motherboard?
