i9 10900k very hot

anyone can help my whole cpu is very hot when running cod game. not sure why

using:

- Thermaltake Water 3.0 240 ARGB Sync mount to top of case
- 3 front panel fans
- 1 back stock fan
- lian li lancool II

What is your definition of hot ? What are the temps ? Consider turning off mce. For mine, with mce switched on, it hits 90 degree with all core running at 5.3. Not comfortable with this, so I off mce.

For a start, if it’s about 70-80 it’s reasonable.

240mm is kinda subpar for that CPU. Consider switching mce off like what someone said. It helps.

Your gpu and cpu are both under load. Naturally they will be hot. 70 degree for gpu underload is fine, don’t need to worry. Air coming out from radiator should also be warm under load. It’s cooling down the cpu.

Mce is multi core enhancement. What it does is auto overclock the cpu by inputting a voltage level that is required to run all 10 cores at 5.3ghz forever.

Heat is a by-product of electricity used to power your devices. U will be more worried if the air coming out is not hot

u can switch on air con can cooldown your room.

The hot air must go somewhere.... Either u have air-conditioning room or u make a long pipe transfer all the hot air outside your window

Intel i9 10900k is a 125 watt TDP CPU, my opinion your case is quite squeezy for use with such hot chip.

I had a friend who also had i9 but his setup uses the Cooler Master H500P.
Much bigger and spacious case hardly can feel any heat from it
since the case uses 200mm fan.

My suggestion to you:
- If heat is your concern, downgrade to a 95 watt chip.
Like Intel i5 10500, for gaming there is no framerate penalty.
Only multi core task than will.

- Upgrade to a bigger case like Cooler master H500P, bigger fan,
bigger space so heat can dissipate better.

Try update BIOS as well if you have not done before.
Last update for BIOS is 2‎020/12/14:

Just off MCE trust me. I have the 10900k too.

CPUs are designed to run hot to maximise performance so it is normal. If you feel that the heat output is too high for your personal comfort, consider undervolting and setting power limit in your motherboard bios.
You can also do the same for GPU which likely is drawing 2-3x more power than the 10900k while gaming. MSI afterburner allows voltage frequency curve editing and also allows you to reduce stock 100% power limit to 50%.
