Does anyone actually own a PCM-D50/M10 here? It seems only the Taiwan and China folks are into using recorders as DAP
Was tat question directed at me? Nope I have nv auditioned a Sony D50/M10 before myself, but after coming across what most TW/China audiophiles have been saying abt these Sony IC recorders, you just can't help but wonder hw it will be when pitted against devices like the DX100.
Tbh, I was actually this close to hooting a Sony D50/Kenwood MGR-E8 myself after been disappointed by the Cowon J3 last yr. Luckily I held off my purchases and waited for the Walkman Z release actually, thinking back I think my usage habits wouldn't fit very well with such bulky IC recorders, as apart from SQ I do care very much abt portability as well.
I will admit while I care about sound quality, but the DX100... Is buttugly.

Usually I am quite lax about the looks of the portable player, but christ, it's too ugly for me to even look at.

If they made it nicer looking I would probably sell my Z1070 at an instant.
For me I would nt say that the DX100 is butt ugly, its front design looks actually quite alright to me. But ultimately my decision for choosing the Sony Z series in the end was due to factors like overall aesthetics, sound quality and battery life. 4-7 hrs for a portable DAP really don't cut it for me, and I prefer to use a light USB charger for emergency charging purposes if the need arises, instead of relying on something as bulky as those Yoobao heavy-duty chargers.
The amount of software bugs that I came across on the DX100's discussion thread on HF was another reason that deterred me from purchasing it despite that I can afford it, still rem it was a few days before lunar CNY when I was reading up and comtemplating btw the Walkman Z and DX100.
But kudos to iBasso for taking such a pro-active stance in terms of fixing bugs and giving free hw upgrades for existing owners. They have certainly earned my respect as a manufacturer company who takes in feedbacks positively, just like some japanese domestic companies out there whom I had experiences with who usually takes customer feedbacks srsly.
