iBasso DX100 Reference DAP Impression

Wow I still have not upgraded at all since I got mine in March. As its is it sounds great so now it will sound even better is amazing.

I am not sure if I prefer 1.1.7 over 1.0.3. But I definitely prefer both over 1.1.0.

1.0.3 have an edge over both in terms of vocals. Drums have more presence too.

But 1.1.7 is damn good with live music. Daft Punk Alive 2007 is..... AMAZING....

Hmm. I felt that the dx100 still sounds slightly better than my Sony walkman z. The vocals are quite laidback compared to the walkman as the walkman has it fairly forward. But soundstage is more spacious and bass has more impact from what I hear.

U prob saved yourself from future upgrades haha

Hi, just got a Ibasso DX100. Noticed that it gets rather warm while using. Is this normal (I noticed the same on Android phones as well) for android devices? Anyone has similar experience? Thanks in advance.

It is a real amp so it will get warm. I heard if you update the firmware it will get less hot.

It is a lot more smooth after upgrading to 1.1.7 which is already very noticable from start-up. =)

Its normal for the DX-100 to be warm as well.

Hi do go and have a listen and let us know how you find in comparison. You can bring your own microSD card with the songs you want. And bring your own ear/head phones as well. That's what I did.

That was exactly how I felt, esp the touch screen part.

An above average player not worth the asking price.

Haha the Sony sounds better then the DX100. Must be a joke. I had many Sonys and boy lacks the power. Sepration? The Sony cant compete with the DX100 but it can compete with say an Apple or Cowon.

I agree but in my experience with Sony players I can not agree that the Sony is clearer nor better sounding then the DX100. If you dont want to spend a lot then just try to enjoy what you have or try to convince yourself that the DX100 is not worth the money. I will say this, up grading to a better earphone is the most important area. A great earphone on say a Apple will probablly sound better then a free earphone with the DX100. Only a guess cause I have not tried a cheapy earphone on the DX100. I have tried different earphones on many other players and each earphone really changes the sound coming from the player.

Congrats. You guys just saved yourselves a lot of money since DX100 sounds only average and likely the other DAPs such as HM-801 and C4 are not gonna sound any better than the Z1070 too. I agree on the laidback vocal but not the rest. Bass muddy and not clear on DX100? That totally makes me wonder what tracks were you guys listening to and the earphones you all are using.

I am using JH13 and trying to reach the level of my STAX SR-009 rig. So it is not that I dont have money to spend on the player. It is the sound that is not worth to me. For bass and vocals, I want to hear every separate beat and words even if it is very fast like in "Hatsune Miku no Shoushi tsu". The dx100 make it too bassy for me to take it on my JH13.

My opinion of the player doesnt mean the player is bad to others. I agree that Sony players doesnt have the power for power hungry headphones but for earphones it definitely have no problem... I am just telling others to go compare players before buying.

I have not use other headphones like my K702 on DX100 so I cannot comment on the performance for headphones.

The HM-801 is worse than DX100 as it is too slow for Miku songs...

i think we have have to keep in mind some iem or headphones does not perform in synergy with some portable sources, ive heared from a different forum that an owner claim that his jh16 does not sound as impressive on dx100. well we all have different hearing reception. im just thankfull im liking the dx100 quite much that being said i wonder how the highend grados work with this player...
