iBasso DX100 Reference DAP Impression

Not sure what's the dac that Walkman Z is using, but it is most likely(speculations) to be a wolfson WM8994 as it runs on Tegra 2.

WM8994 might be a nice dac, it is won't be as good as the ES9018 DAC(which features 8 DACs/4per channel in one chip) in the Ibasso for sure.

SQ wise, the DX100 is definitely the clear winner but for me, i value other stuff too, like portability, attractiveness.

SQ : DX100 + Sony Z -
Portability : DX100 - Sony Z +
Looks : DX100 - Sony Z +
Warranty : DX100 + Sony Z - (Probably getting a 64GB from Japan if i get)

My considerations are based on the fact that

1) I don't use my portable rig at home
2) I mainly use IEMs for my portable rig (rarely use headphones out of home)
3) I scared i tempted to upgrade it future ><

what iem you using on the go anyway? and how often you stay out? cos from what randius told me, the player is appx 6hrs, which is really really short.

imagine u go out halfway no batt >.< i love the build of it though

I use reshelled CK100s. 6 hrs should be okay for me though. But yeah that's actually really short battery life.

I think the battery life depends on the file format and bit-rate. I am getting 6-7 hours by playing 16/44 - 24/192 FLAC/ALAC files

I'm quite ancient, still walking around with my DIYmod + Continental amp for my Miracle.

Gotta say the DX100 did pique my interest, but the price really put me off. After all, I have already invested quite a fair bit in the DIYmod rig over the years.

Would still love to audition the DX100 if I ever get a chance though.

Call them like 3 times, but no one picks up. On 4th call, someone picked up but say the person in charge was away, ask to leave number, but never call back.
