Don't worry, that will not happen. Till date, the only special edition they have ever sold is the anniversary edition D5 Hj, to commemorate one-year collaboration with Hibino Intersound. AND IT IS STILL BLACK COLOUR

 then black color it is :(:(:(

Wow usb otg[/QUOTE]

Wah got USB OTG mode. Still it's hard to judge its SQ performance at this pt of time since there are not much listening impressions ard yet. Better to adopt wait and see mode first.

But I have my own doubts in that its SQ would trash the AK120 though. Have personally experienced the power of desktop DACs working in fully dual-differential mode, so IMHO the single WM8740 performance prolly will have a hard time overtaking dual-DACs stuff like AK120. I will await for DX50 owners/critics to prove me wrong though.

Doubt it can fight with ak120. Think more of competing against the ak100

in my personal experience with single and dual DACs, i agree with you.

It may or may not beat the AK100, but to beat a setup with dual DACs... fuuuuyoooooo wait long long liao.

*aside from the DX50 SQ, i realised that the AK120 has more capability is playing high res files; mainstream music/mastering on the AK120 sounds a bit artificial to my ears... especially the "3D" staging that the AK120 possess.

Yup you do have a point. I have personally noticed also some gears out there tend to give a slightly more artificial or intentional HRTF cues through processed audio spatialisation, giving that 3D-like spatial cues/soundstaging effect. This is also quite obvious when I was A/Bing the CK100PRO vs CK100 on a same running source as the latter suffers from this effect, but I also believe some pple out there may like this sort of artificial 3D spatial cues effect so go figure.

Still given DX50's pretty pocket-friendly pricing, I'm quite sure it will prove to be a popular competitor DAP model against the likes of AK100 for sure, but as for against AK120 is prolly something almost impossible to reign.

RWAK100-S review - a highend audio player

not saying that the theory is wrong, but certainly vinnie is doing something right to make sasaki-san put a single WM8741 dac (rwak100s) on par on some levels with dual WM8740 (ak120).

I personally have heard the ak100 and the ak120 and they are worlds apart hence, i am also unsure of how much improvement the rwak100s gives. DAP war these days, so eggciting. :s13:

ak120 and this is different league. 1 is for the deep pockets crowd which want to squeeze every single drop of performance while the other is for the sensible crowd who wants 'bang for buck'.

I have also audition both AK100 (Black and Gold) and AK120. and yes, AK120 is a step (or a few steps) above AK100.

however i would like to think that, even though on paper, dual DACs would most of the time, have a better positive significant impact on delivering quality SQ and experience. However, it still really boils down to each individual's taste in its choice of "how it should really sound" and also the choices of tracks used to determine how well the device product would actually perform; "audition" tracks are very personalised, if you get what i mean.

but of coz, i would also want to have a go at the RWAK100-S if there's any in SG. :D

currently enjoying Daft Punk's RAM album... 24bit/96kHz on my Rolex + Merlin. ;)

not sure about that, but i do know that it can deliver actual DSD bit stream... but of coz... on the AK120, also cannot directly stream DSD :s13: but can also do PCM-converted DSD modes.

Coz i remember 8741 have dual stereo channel.
Ak120 is on another league compared to ak100.
I tink dx50 is to fight against ak100 and x3 nia

If i am not wrong, all of wolfson chips can only be run dual mono... Not very good with all this tech stuff.

As long as my ears tell me, THIS IS FREAKING AWESOME, i normally just cry and throw down the money.

Think i sala. 8741 is the upgrade version of 8740. Not dual 8740 in it. Just that ppl are always comparing 8741 with dual 8740. Sorry for any confusion
