As mentioned in my previous post, Accidental protection you've got with the Us bought Warranty only covers USA. If you need Accidental protection in Singapore, have to buy the AP from Lenovo SG -- this is confirmed by the US day reps as well as Lenovo SG's CS & Tech support

another successful thinkpad purchase via comgateway...

- ordered on 29 mar
- shipped from china on 1 apr.
- reached comgateway warehouse 6 apr, and shipped out the same day
- reach sg 9 apr, delivered 11 apr

As mentioned in an earlier post, I wasn't able to tack on the extended warranty on checkout. Went back to lenovo's website with my serial number and paid for the 3 year warranty. Used amazon payments like how I paid for the initial order. Card has been charged but order not yet officially completed - but doubt I will meet with problems on this one, considering there wasn't any issue with buying the laptop itself.

I have the accidental damage protection warranty, but i'm not sure if that has international coverage. Here's hoping i'll never have to lodge a claim..

Congrats!!

My W520 is still with CGW...... this week or early next week should arrive!

BTW, where to get the Power cord for Singapore use then?

i just received my w520 today (biggest %^#^%#$%# power brick i have ever seen)

some info for those thinking of ordering from lenovo US

- i used amazon payments to pay using my SGP credit card. like most people here, it only allowed me to do a single-item checkout. for me, that means no warranty extension or upgrade. will have to go back in with serial number to purchase.

- used comgateway. for re-sending back to singapore.
looking back at my records, lenovo's order confirmation email listed my cgw US address as my billing address.
however my amazon payments email listed my SGP address as billing address. made me a big confused and worried that payment wouldnt go through.

maybe there was some lag on lenovo's part.

- comgateway uses dhl. dhl delivers on weekends! told me on the phone that if i hadnt made arrangements, they would have waited till monday.

- my power brick came with a 2 pin american cord.

all you have to do is find one of these to replace it with

hope that was useful to anybody going to buy from US.
and thanks to all those who gave helpful info.

I paid CGW about USD 8 more to shave a few days off.
maybe that's why mine got here earlier than yours heh heh.

the compatible power cord is very common in singapore.

perhaps the link i posted not so clear.
this should be more familiar to you:
http://www.datafieldindia.com/images/2_pin_power_cord2.jpg

you might have a spare one at home already.
it's the type they use for low powered (kind of) household appliances that dont need earthing. like dvd player, radio, battery charger, small sound system, etc.
(the longest middle pin in the giant 3-pin plugs is for earthing)

if you need to buy, should be easy to get from your neighbourhood uncle uncle electrical shop or maybe even ntuc.

From what I read from the posts pages back.
US depot warranty means local carry in warranty as well.

Let me know if you succeed in doing this. I tried to extend my warranty twice but Lenovo US rejected the purchase.

The purchase will go through initially, but after 2 days, they will send email saying something like "the product is not available". :(

What's the difference between T420 and T420s? And how come there's so many different T420 series? I'm thinking of getting one.

Any recommendation on where to get a IBM? I'll be heading to Funan after work.

TIA. :)

You cannot get any IBM thinkpad anymore. IBM sold the whole pc (desktop and laptop) business to Lenovo about 7 years back.
