what are you using now?

My wife is using a X220 which I brought from the forum a while ago, so I borrow it sometimes but she will need to use hers most of the time.

Sold away my X220 i7 as I really want a tablet version :)

read that there was a huge outcry when lenovo change the keyboard to island style on x230.. but people got used to it eventually..

was given a x230 when i joined my current company, loving it since.. was looking at buying one for personal use, then the x240 came out..

tried my colleague x240.. really is cannot make it..
the plam rest is too long, making the keyboard/trackpoint very far..

using the trackpoint is a two hand affair now, the left button is too far for my right thumb to reach.. Even if i stretch unnaturally to reach it, i failed to register a click 8 out of 10 times..

removal of middle scroll button is another big failure.. the "integrated" middle button keeps on registering the wrong click..

overall the layout is unnatural from the keyboard to the trackpoint to the mousepad and palm rest..

Please stay away from the x240..

Just tried out the X240 at work. Fully concurred that TrackPoint and TouchPad implementation is a big mess. I'm glad I got X230 instead of X240.

May I check where is a good place to purchase a Thinkpad? Looking to get a T440p locally as I need to retire my W510.

Thanks!

I received "error in payment".

Which Lenovo website you use? I'm using Barnes and Noble Lenovo USA webstore.

Bought a X1 Carbon ivy-bridge from Woot last month for USD930. Not exactly cheap but still cheaper than buying from Singapore. Don't need Haswell as it's just a Thinkpad collection as my hobby.

Also bought a Thinkpad Yoga. Getting my cousin to bring it back for me from USA. Is TPG sold here?

Does anyone know where we can get a non-original SSD/HDD caddy for a T420 in Singapore? Heard the original one has a height limit.

Lenovo T440s (on Win7 Pro 64 bit) shutdown issue

Hi All,

Anyone facing this issue with any Lenovo T440 series on Win 7 Pro 64bit?
Read online that it may be the fault of the finger print reader driver, so I used the Thinkvantage app to update all the outdated drivers, including the finger print driver, last Friday, 22nd Aug, and up until 30 mins ago, it was shutting down perfectly, so I thought, i got the problem resolved. When I did the shutdown before heading off from work, the same problem came back. It hangs at shutdown and I had to press and hold the power button to turn it off.

Any ideas?

a.

If it's your personal notebook, reformat it. Else contact your IT personnel.

Try disable this 2 services if it is running in your system
1. Power Manager DBC Service
2. Cisco EnergyWise service

Do a "net start" cmd to check what service is running.

Worse case scenario perfor a clean boot : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135
