It's much cheaper in the US. But did you customize the warranty and OS to match those we see in Singapore?

Yup! Quite a bit of difference... US$1541.00 for the same specs. I paid S$2,999.00 for it in Singapore.

That's a huge amount of savings if you bought in in US.

Oh well, that's the cost of convenience, I guess. :)

I would not be enjoying my X220 now if I had bought mine from the US. I had to wait till Sept till my cousin comes home for a holiday so decided to bite the bullet and get it here.

Yeah. I was just thinking... might be going for a couple of trips this year, perhaps to the US.

Either get someone to get from the nus/ntu tender.. or get from US during the trip.

Believe this price is for one year depot warranty, no bag and may be win7 home edition. Excluding tax and necessary shipping. So you may end up paying around the same.

never buy anything from him before but he was pretty helpful when i asked questions. even offered to help me out of goodwill.

Really ah? I did? I can't recall leh... :p

@tsting - If you do intend to stay in the US over at least 1.5 - 2 wks then it would be possible to purchase it online and have it shipped to your address. Anything shorter would be a risk of a missed delivery. You can also visit some Lenovo outlets, though the prices may not be as cheap.

Nope, 3yr warranty and Win7 Pro x64. Not sure about the bag. Anyways, Lenovo is having one of those promos again and the savings that they mention on the website was about US$800! :)

Well, no time for buyer's remorse and just enjoying a great little machine!

Yeah.
I was hoping to order prior, and send to a friend's place or something, and pick it up when I'm there.

I guess online prices definitely beat outlet prices huh?

Lenovo USA always has promos going on... so it is good to grab one during the promo!

Yes, ship it to your friend's place first.

If you are to shp it to Singapore using vPost, chances are the prices after all the shipping and tax is going to cost you almost the same price as you buy it in Singapore.

oh yeah...that's the best. You can ask your friend to order it online first and have it shipped to his address. Then you can pick it up any time.

I know this has been brought up on multiple occasions in the thread. But I would like to find out if there are any forum users who have bought a thinkpad from the US website and have tried to use the warranty in Singapore?

I called lenovo before and what they told me is that the extended warranty does not apply to sg and that I have to get the base depot warranty of 1 year and then extend the warranty in Singapore. Is that true or the extension of warranty will be honoured in Sg anyway?

Am personally looking for a X200 or the T420.

Thanks!

Correct, extended warranty is basically a insurance. Is not a warranty from manufacturer.

What is cheapest W520 selling? Lenovo reps around? I saw the dealer price is about S$3.9K and most shop selling S$4.4K! Mark up like siao compared to US where is at most equal to S$2.8K!

wah this seems like a very good offer

i will need some help here.
in terms of performance, is the w520 significantly better than the t420?
is the W520 too bulky to be brought around?

Yes, the W520 has a quad-core processor, 1GB of graphics memory and a display that can go up to FHD (pity this deal only offers the HD option). Plus the ram can go up to 16GB. Of course something like that would be bigger and heavier than the T420, so you need to choose between portability and power.

This is the best deal in town, but if you are looking at mobile broadband just a reminder to check if it includes a WWAN antenna.
