Lenovo Unveils 9 New ThinkPads, Complete With Ivy Bridge, HD+ Screens

I wasn't sure if I could adapt to the new keypad.

Hence, I ordered a T420 from Lenovo USA site. Took the base model without camera for USD 611.

i3-2350
4gb Ram (going to change to 8gb)
320gb (going to replace with my just arrived Crucial M4 256gb SSD)
The legendary keypad (hoot first so that I can have a while more to adjust to the new chicket keys)

How much will the shipping cost? Payment was done through Amazon payments and sent to Borderlink.

Hopefully there is another box but that means additional shipping cost.

Seen it before in one of the repair shops located at the backlane of Level 4 SLS. Not quite sure which shop already. It is not an original accessory though.

I think AddOn has the original one if you are looking for it. But do note, prices do not come cheap for the original version.

Yeah, I am surprised too. But for the caddies, there are quite a few versions, 9.5mm or 12mm. The contacting interface is also different for models T61 and before too!

T61 and before uses IDE interface. The newer ones after T61 uses the SATA interface.

Thought so too because I tried to use the CD-ROM in the Ultrabase and it couldn't fit because of the interface.

USD611 is cheap. How much is the shipping?

No idea. Lenovo just shipped to me yesterday. Wait till I ship it over.

My previous purchase from Amazon came to about S$70 incl GST using Vpost.
Amazon shipped it in another box. original box and shipment box.

It was a sale last week at Lenovo USA and I removed the webcam. Hence price was USD 611. Right now also another promo but slight more at USD 30 more.

Is the 1 year depot warranty considered as international warranty?

Most of us here must be waiting for the new IB notebooks to be sold. Only change is the keyboard. Battery life should be similar to the SB series. Weight, screen size and resolution also similar.

Considering all these, I chose to purchase the discounted SB T420 for USD611. I suppose total cost will be about S$950 and I could have easily gotten the new IB series from those tertiary students dale for S$1730. The savings of about S$800 was too much to resist and I can use it to buy another set when IB is phased out next year.

anyone with W520 ever face with The AC Adapter Wattage / Voltage not sufficient to run the System error while boot up? I'm using the original 170W Power brick though...

Bring back to service centre to diagnos. Top notch service there. That's why I've been a Thinkpad user for the past 6 years from X60, X61, X201 and soon T420.

Am I getting old? progressing from 12inch to 14 inch.

Yes, it should be international warranty.

Its cheaper in the US. But not always the case because you have to take note sets purchased in US, usually only comes with 1 year international warranty. You also need to factor in shipping costs, exchange rate and also GST when it arrives in Singapore.

So at the end of the day, it depends on the promotion they are currently running. It is not always cheap or very much cheaper.

Problem now is I think they are only opened on Weekdays?

I think I'll have to call in for Onsite support if the problem continues....

For me, It was about SGD 1000 cheaper (after adding in 3 years onsite warranty).... but its hard to compare cos for W520, they do not come with HD+ Screen & Nvidia 1000 GPU here.

In Singapore the W520 is costing close to SGD 3.5k for it came with Full HD Screen & Nvidia 2000 GPU.

It cost me less than SGD 1.7k for my W520 set! + several price matches after! Shipping was SGD 30+, GST was the killer, but I can claim with my company. -- SGD 100+

So technically, I may have saved another SGD 100 via price matches within the 1st 21 days upon Invoice was sent out.
