Becareful when buying pc in China.
1. The warranty may covers China and Hong Kong only.
2. It may not original Microsoft OS.

Thinking of getting a ThinkPad 2. Any current owners here can give some comments pls? Hows the battery life? I heard that its quite light too, even lighter than an iPad. Am looking for something to read magazines, surf web and run Lego Digital Designer.

Looks like now cannot order through US website anymore if using comgateway. Will have to use comgateway buying service with additional 5%. My colleague bought his Microsoft Surface Pro this way.

I went to looklookseesee.com Prices cheaper but nowhere comparable to US pricing although they buy directly from China. Will make do with my 2 sets of X230, x220, W530, T420 and X61 for the time being. Hee :D

I am looking to purchase the T430s but alas, no luck.

US sets warranty can get it service in local?
the "shui huo" set in china which says come from SG is cheaper than buying in SG direct... really is wtf :S:S

even when i talk to the seller initially, she also ask me y dun buy in SG..
the set manufacture in china fly to SG and fly back to china sell is CHEAPER than just 1 way traffic.. hmmmmm

I mention this before. If you buy in China, make sure you have valid Microsoft Windows license. Also check warranty coverage.

is helix officially out in singapore? :s11:

Some members mentioned that they saw it on sale at SLS and Funan, but not sure if they have stock or if its a pre-order. I checked with a Lenovo sales rep and he said that production is behind schedule so they have to push back the launch to august.

i worked as a temp with a local hp affliate and all they do is log into the msdn website and dl whatever iso they require. then install from that and then run the inhouse program to put in the branding stuff before shipping out to customers. subsequent sets are made using cloning software.

they don't even receive pressed cds from microsoft.

Damned! I also suspected it all along as it was a common practice in the States when they run out of the original pressed sets as told by the Thinkpadders there. Over there, the extent was to the point that these discs looked like the original ones, ie. with the printed labels on as on pressed discs. The only telling sign is that they are burned ones, not pressed ones. Usually, the blue and yellow hues are a dead giveaway. Pressed discs are opaque silver (remastered). This mod is definitely boot-leg.

By the way, anyone here could help me source for the T43 recovery CDs or could sell me one?

Local pricing for ThinkPad is not worth getting one. The people selling in forums are using Singapore high pricing as benchmark for their resell price because of the claim for international warranty which is still a grey area in Singapore now.

I have been trying to get a decent ThinkPad in the resell market with a budget of $1400 but just could not get it.

Looks like getting help from some one to get from oversea is my only option here.

like i mention above, you can consider buying from eBay and shipping it to comgateway or borderlinx to reroute it back. As for taxations consideration, you can ask for it to be sent as a gift with no invoice attached and self declare the appropriate value.
