Hi homer123,

is the package a fully guided tour? Do they pick you from hotel and go for tour such as catching the northern light? Do you have free time? Is it possible to visit the attractions ourself?

They are all guided tour and they pick u from the hotel.. You can arrange the date of your tour and allocate a free day. Not advisable to drive on your own especially the road can be icy and dangerous during bad weather.

If you are just covering just the south west region of Iceland, 4-5 days for sight seeing is enough and it can cover the Blue Lagoon,Reykjavik downtown tour, Glacier and volcanic walk, Golden Circle (include Gullfoss waterfall) and Northern light (1 day each for each itinerary) . For Northern light , better chance of seeing it from Oct to Feb.

I'm targeting to book Iceland for this coming mid-may, the shoulder period just before the peak season in June-September. Pretty expensive though.

Videos from iceland trip

Pretty cool pictures by the thread-starter. We also managed to visit Iceland last year, while on a cruise. Here are some videos that I made from that visit.

Gullfoss Waterfalls, along the Golden Circle Route

Strokkur Geysir, along the Golden Circle Route

Akureyri - Godafoss Waterfalls

Driving back to the port after visiting Gullfoss, very harsh terrain

I just came back from this beautiful country a few months ago. rented a car and drove around the entire country although some of the roads are quite narrow and dangerous :s13: It's worth it though. iceland is a must-go!!!!
