has anyone been to Iceland and travel via free and easy? could you share the itinerary? is it easy for a self drive trip?

Going next month semi free and easy. Cause I taking day tours there instead of driving.

Went in May, which is like an off-season. Best time to go is July-now if u wanna see everything, in winter many places are inaccessible but u get to see the northern lights.

I went there F&E, then booked those bus tours to places of interests. There're tons of websites of pte tours u can book in advance.

Driving is obviously the best choice but u must be confident in driving a 4x4 in very rough terrain (if u intend to off-road).

I did the Ring Road - Route 1 in about 12 days last Sep. It was an amazing experience as there were many nice nature spots along the way and most attractions were easy to reach. You could also join day trips to glacial hike, snowmobile or aurora hunt at night.

It's quite easy to drive as there is little traffic outside major towns, at times I don't see any other cars for a good 30mins drive. You just need to be more careful when driving on gravel road (only in certain areas in East Iceland where I kept an average speed of 50km/h). Do also plan your route as some gas stations can be quite a distance away and do purchase prepaid cards for unmanned gas stations (as these machines don't accept cash).

I would do Iceland on a road trip again anytime as it gives me an out of this world experience.

Was in Iceland 5 years ago during September. I visited blue lagoon and some geysers. Rented a car to roam around. Try to avoid the off road which can be dangerous since the whole place is quite deserted. No wonder people say alien can even land there without getting notice. There is even a place which I cannot remember now... that it was alien landing point before.
