have been turning on icloud backup since day one because i don't want to connect phone to macbook, also paying 200GB icloud drive because of huge icloud photo library.

tried to restore icloud backup from ip5 to ip5s, and 2 years later from ip5s to ip6s, works like a charm.

I have been using iCloud backup since its was introduced to the public. I use it to restore from one iphone to another.
