ICT clashes with my part-time study schedule.

my this coming ICT is high-key atec stage 2. I'm okay with time-off but atec is usually overnight outfield so doesn't make sense to have time off. deferment is the only way. but my unit is damn garang and will try to minimize the number of deferment as much as possible.

but if i miss my classes i need to wait for next intake. that means my graduation will delay for more than 6 months.

if unit reject my deferment can go to mp?

Suggest you talk to your OC and see whether they can recommend to CO to defer you. Like proper phone call not like just send them some cursory message kind.

OC, CO also NSmen, talk to them properly they will try to understand one

you definitely can go see MP, but they also can't do much. They will the most write letter on your behalf and MINDEF will have to reply you. Other than that, there isn't much they can influence.

I did went to see my MP before many years ago for some IPPT related matters and the outcome was positive so I suppose it depends on situation.

But anyway the actual chain of command is to look for your S8/DYS8 and see what they can do about it.

They always say manpower very important then told me what achievement we could get as a unit if we get recon 1 bla bla bla then I had to act like I care like that. Had the same issue during April, ICT clashed with my schedule but heng covid then ICT postponed. Iya not their money they don’t care one la.

How is the flow like? Some said after OC go find S1.

usually ask the sect commd, then he will just pass on the message up the chain of command so you dont skip anyone on the chain if not may offend them.

afterwards should be easy already

Ask your program manager to write a letter supporting your case, and submit the letter with your timetable on NS portal. The (legit) grounds for your request must be stated and explained clearly in the letter.

Inform your PC, who should in turn inform your OC. It's a form of courtesy; usually my PC will ask first in our group chat who's deferring, haha. This is the most you can do for now. Wait for the outcome, then let your program manager know.

I have not had the need to see MP when i deferred during my part-time studies (private institution), but you should definitely keep this option open. And also to appeal on ICT day 1.

From experience, the deferment will likely not go through if there was no exams involved and your lesson days make up less than 25% of your ICT duration. Like what some has advised, talk to your PC, OC and see if they can grant you time off.

If your unit is kind enough, they will get someone to wait for you to draw arms and transport you to exercise area after class.

My unit once had a few persons who went for night classes, booked in 2359 and back to exercise area.

if they need u for manpower requirement, might not defer u but make ur life miserable by giving u timeoff..

send vehicle send u back to camp, u wash up go study then after that return to camp.. next morning u join ration vehicle to join back ur platoon
