i have a old IDE harddisk which failed recently. Has a continuous clicking sound. It contains quite a bit of important and sensitive data which i need. didnt backup the latest data! I asked around and repair cost thousands. It is too expensive and i can't leave the harddisk with them too. Looked through many online videos but dont think i can repair it.

anyone seriously able to help?

If you hear clicking sound, most likely your read/write head is faulty.

Seriously, if the data is important , you will need to get those company with credibility to help you.

As you mentioned data is sensitive, make sure you let them sign the NDA (Non Disclosure Agreement)

All data recovery is never cheap, minimum is $2000/-
Hopefully you have learnt to backup your data after this incident.

precisely why i am here. SLS is nonsense. Can't afford the $2000 to companies, so seeking help to repair or replace the read/write header. Willing to pay a service fee.

My IT dept would be able to help you for a token fee of $100, not to repair the HDD but to extract out the data.

good idea...which other IT dept also provide such services... cheaper than going to those stores...

No need min S$2,000... depends... on the failure and the capability of the company.

if your data is sensitive and important, why isn't it worth $2000 then?
