Come out of the terminal already face to face with some rough looking "taxi lous" looking like they are going to steal all my money and leave me for dead.

That was more than 10 years ago. Never been back to that shitehole ever since.

Nothing has changed, just that you bypass the taxi touters at the batam center ferry terminal by using the overpass into mega mall. Even then you aren't safe there yet, but they have no grounds to stop you from booking grab or gojek over there.

not sure what sort of tourists attractions they have now over there as compared to the time in my visit around more than 10 years ago ..

but 3 days sounds like an overkill imo

When the ferry was $32 to and fro... I went every few months... Now cannot be bother... Too expensive

Two days should be fine to cover cost of ferry. If you want 3 days also ok...

Depend what kind of traveller u are. If you are shopper, there is no major brands that singapore dun have. If you are looking into neccessities, to buy them is not coat effective factoring the ferry price

If you are foodie, batam has quite a good selection of cheap seafood, whether they are of good quality...i cannot tell.

If you are the chill and relaxed type, batam has some beach club and cafe you can go to...which is relatively quite empty. There are also the cheap massage which are varying in stadard

If you are the sport type...you can try going to barelang bridge or the water skiing center,
